How Much Money Do Charity Golf Tournaments Raise?

Hello James,

If you bring a group of people together and ask them to raise money for a community goal, give it only a few minutes and someone will say HOST AN EVENT!

It's not hard to see why. There's something uniquely special when you bring people together, share a meal, and look at each other face-to-face and eye-to-eye. Events cut to the heart of what fundraising is about, which is rallying a group together to share the burden of an expensive but meaningful thing, which is otherwise too heavy for one person to lift on their own. It's just not the same without physically meeting each other.

I believe our 2023 golf tournament this past Friday was a shining example. You can even look beyond the $25,012 raised from the sponsors, donors, and players and still call it highly successful. People were brought together and community was fostered. Friends saw friends from years ago. Lots of prizes were given away and the clapping and cheering filled the dining room of the Deep River Golf Club every few minutes.

I couldn't do my job without events. How else could we connect with each other so tangibly?

I want to thank Joanne Vollmer and Janet Melnyk for putting on an extremely successful Silent Auction, which raised $2,408. I will say that Silent Auctions are NOT easy to pull off! There are so many details. 37 prizes had to be secured and picked up. Bid sheets had to be made and tracked. People need follow-up. They also managed the sales ALL DAY at our Golf Tournament. I hope they know how much I appreciate them.

My appreciation also goes out to the witty Doug Tennant for being our event Master of Ceremonies, and Jeannie Tilson for piping for us. Thank you both. Lynne and Rolland Kelly did a fantastic job supporting our registration table and I'd like to mention how they were so easy going and friendly. Thank you both, as well.

I must also again highlight our sponsors and golf teams. We literally could not have an event without you!

Until next time,

New "Youngest Person" On Our Tree of Caring In August

In August, Kailynne Clemens-LeBel became the youngest person on our Tree of Caring by raising $1,200 for the Closer To Home campaign, at age 9.

She was awarded with a First Place certificate in the Run For Home 2023 pledge collection competition and her name was engraved in the "Friends" category on the Tree. She worked very hard to encourage her friends, family, and neighbours to give to the Closer To Home campaign. She even set a goal to upgrade her name to the next donor category on the Tree, although guessed that it might take a few years.

Congratulations Kailynne, you inspire us all! Thanks for the huge effort!

Another Event To Celebrate - Fishing Derby

We would like to thank Dave Smith and family for hosting a private fishing derby in August to raise money for DRDH. Over 60 people attended and $1,500 was raised in total! Pictured below is the Big Fish Winner - Dave Madore, with Dave Smith and Cecilia Dennis. The next picture is the Smallest Fish Entered - Blake Roblin, pictured with his dad Alex.

Thank you so much for hosting this event and dedicating it to benefit our fundraising efforts. We appreciate this type of thing greatly.

Would you ever consider hosting a small event for the Closer To Home campaign or the Foundation in general? Consider this a minor nudge!
