JAVA & JESUS

Thursdays, 10:00am-noon, Gathering Room


Interested in a weekly women's group and a good cup of coffee? Join us for Java & Jesus! Lessons center around how we juggle being moms and followers of Christ in a busy world. Nursery is provided; no outside reading required. 


First study of the fall is a video series "WayMaker: Finding the Way of Life you've Always Dreamed Of" by Ann Voskamp. Email Trudy Smith for more info and/or to register for childcare.

LORD’S ACRE

Lord’s Acre is coming soon! Be sure October 8th is on your calendar! Here is how you can help!


Donations of:

  • Snack-size packages of chips to serve with lunches
  • Snacks for volunteers and vendors like protein bars, peanut butter

              crackers, pretzels, granola or fruit bars, etc.

  • Cans of soda and bottles of water

These items can be dropped off in the marked bin in the Narthex.

Baked Goods and Casseroles - Sign up in the Narthex. Casserole pans are available when you sign up!



Live and Silent Auction Items - Donation forms for auction items are available in the Narthex. Don’t wait until the last minute please! Forms and auction items need to be turned in by Friday, October 7th. No auction items will be accepted on day of Lord's Acre!


Vendors - If any of you have a business and you want to be a Vendor at Lord’s Acre, forms are available on the church website. All forms can be turned in at the Connection Center or put in the Lord’s Acre mail box.

ADULT MISSION TRIP

October 23rd-27th, Conroe, Texas



Join us for another adult mission trip to the Mission Center in Conroe, Texas! The Mission Center is the warehouse and command center for recovery efforts in The Texas Annual Conference. The warehouse collects, assembles and distributes disaster response equipment and supplies for use in regional disasters.


No experience required! We will assemble and verify cleaning and hygiene kits in a climate-controlled environment. Work hours are flexible.


If you’re interested in joining the team, pick up a flyer in the Narthex.


We hope YOU will be part of the team!


The mission team requests donations of the following items that we will take with us to The Mission Center.

  • Adult backpacks with zipper closure, no drawstring closures, new
  • Child backpacks with zipper closure, no drawstring closures, new
  • Tissues -- travel/pocket size, 10-20 count per pack
  • Men's socks -- new and unwashed
  • Bath towels -- new and unwashed, full size, no bath sheets
  • Children's coloring books

Anyone wishing to display flowers in honor or memory of loved ones in our sanctuary, contact Linda Surratt at 817-228-4632. Linda is the flower coordinator on our Worship committee.

LIFE CARE GROUPS
SUPPORT GROUPS FOR AREAS OF LIFE

Our groups are open to adults in our community who are experiencing life's challenges. We all have difficult times in our lives when we need loving, compassionate support.

  • Alzheimer's Support Group & Kaliedoscope - meets the second Thursday of each month at 1:00pm.
  • Cancer Support Group - meets the second Tuesday of each month
  • Veterans Support Group - meets the third Thursday of each month

BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

MEN'S DEVOTIONAL BREAKFAST

Mondays, 7:30am, Chapel



Pastor Joel will be sharing a short devotional with this group. Burritos and coffee will be served. This is an opportunity to meet new people and decompress. The goal is for those not retired, to get back on the road by 8:15, at the latest. A donation of $5 is asked to cover the cost.

TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY

Looking for an interesting study? Join the Tuesday Morning class! We will be studying The Screwtape Letters, a fictional Christian apologetic novel by C. S. Lewis, written in a satirical style, addressing the issues of temptation and resistance to it. MANNA ROOM FOOD PANTRY


Our Manna Room helps support families in our community; providing them with basic food needs, but also helping to free up some of their income so they can pay their bills or other debts.


If you would like to help feed our neighbors, we are currently short of the following items:

  • Canned mixed fruit
  • Canned pears
  • Canned peaches
  • Oatmeal(18 oz. canisters)
  • Pork and beans
  • Canned soup
  • Rice (1 lb. bags or boxes)
  • Peanut butter (16-18oz)
  • Squeeze bottles of jelly
  • Saltines
  • Canned chili
  • Tuna Helper
  • Canned tuna


We are very well stocked with all other items. Please be sure to check the expiration dates. Donations can be placed in the marked bin in the Narthex. Thank you for your faithfulness in feeding our hungry friends.
