HOBE SOUND COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
MEN’S CLUB MOTHER’S DAY PLANS
The church Men’s Club is preparing to honor all female members and friends of HSCPC on Mother’s Day.
1. They have formed a men’s choir to sing at the Mother’s Day Worship Service,
2. They are giving the hard working Deacons a day off by preparing and serving a Mother’s Day Brunch following the Worship Service.
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT’S DAY
We all refer to Diane Atkisson as the “church secretary”, but her real title is Adminsitrative Assistant. And there is a special day set aside to honor those hard working women and men without whom their employers could not function,
Most of the church congregation has no idea what is involved in a typical day in the Church office, but you can believe that it is a very busy place. The church absolutely could not run smoothly and effectively without the hard work that Diane puts in every Monday through Thursday morning.
On behalf of the entire congregation, Session honored Diane with a beautiful bouquet of flowers on that special day, and there could be no more deserving Administrative Assistant than Diane Atkisson. Thank you, Diane, for keeping the church running so well while being a cheerful friend to us all.
And we would be very remiss if we didn’t recognize our Administrative Assistant’sThursday morning assistant, her husband Bob. Thursday is the day that the church bulletin with all its inserts is assembled for the coming Sunday. Bob cheerfully spends Thursday mornings folding and stuffing the results of much of Diane’s weekly work.
BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
Saturday, May 4, In the Church Courtyard

Many very positive comments have been made about the May 4 Blessing of the Animals event held in our church courtyard. All members, friends, and neighbors were invited to bring their pets, either on a leash or in a carrier. All of God’s beautiful creatures were welcome, and 40 dogs, accompanied by 75 people, enjoyed socializing together and receiving blessings, prayer tags for their collars, and a treat bag filled with doggie treats and a collapsible food/water bowl. Their humans were not forgotten either, with cold drinks, cookies and small pastries provided by the Deacons.

The service, led by Pastor Paul Bayerl, included an Old Testament Reading (Genesis 9:8-ll), a responsive reading, and a Prayer of Blessing, after which Pastor Paul circulated through the crowd and blessed each individual animal, petting them and calling them by name. This was followed by a Dismissal reading calling on God’s blessing on his treasured creations.
Author, Jan Richardson.

It would be wonderful if we could share photos of each and every pet and pet parent that attended this service. The following are just a very few photos summarizing the activities of the day.

There have been many calls for the Blessing of the Animals to be continued next year, and it is hoped that owners of many other species of pets can be encouraged to participate.

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.”

BUILDING IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

BUILDING ON A STRONG FOUNDATION

On January 10, 1926, Hobe Sound Community Church was organized under the supervision of the Presbyterian Church, USA.
As we look toward our 100th birthday, we are making plans for the exciting centennial celebration to take place in the year 2026. These plans include an ambitious and much needed Building Improvement Plan extending through 2025, and beyond. All donations to this fund-raising campaign to help maintain and preserve our historical church facility will be warmly received and appreciated.

THE FIRST PHASE OF THE BUILDING IMPROVEMENT PLAN consisted of installation of new storm resistant windows in the Sanctuary and Manse, and accompanying needed repairs. That phase has been completed.

THE SECOND PHASE OF THE PLAN consisted of renovations in the kitchen and fellowship hall. That phase has been completed.

THE THIRD PHASE OF THE PLAN consisted of repair and painting of the church steeple.

THE FOURTH AND FINAL PHASE OF THE PLAN will be replacement of the church roof and attached structures.

Special recognition is due to Elder Raelyn Holmes, the chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. She has taken charge of all the detailed work involved in getting bids, selecting vendors, keeping track of work schedules, checking on work-site progress and being available to the work crew for questions. Thank you, Raelyn, for all the time and effort you have put into this and the many previous building improvement projects.
