After Wilford Woodruff was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his greatest desire was to have his family accept the gospel. He diligently corresponded with them and often included his testimony in his letters. In an 1837 letter penned to his younger half-brother Asahel, Wilford wrote,

Since my first connection with the Latter Day Saints I have been happy, contented, & satisfied. I know & bear testimony in the name of Jesus Christ that the Book of mormon is the revealed will of God, & also that Joseph Smith jr. is a prophet of God, & that the Church of Christ is trav[e]ling out of the wilderness with her gifts & graces. I know the same signs now follow the believers that did anciently & as I have prooven this work & know it to be true for myself, I am entirely unshaken in its work.”

Quarterly Progress Report

On September 1st we published the final 18 years of Wilford Woodruff’s journals, seven months ahead of schedule! We are grateful for the incredible efforts of our dedicated volunteer transcribers and talented interns. Other highlights of this quarter's progress include:

  • Publishing 1,395 pages of Wilford Woodruff’s journals (entries from 1880-1898).
  • Transcribing 172 letters and publishing 45 new letters (from 1830s-1890s).
  • Researching and writing 1,431 biographies (including 325 of Woodruff family members).
  • Adding 441 pages of Wilford Woodruff’s discourses and transcribing 270 pages.
  • Increasing the total number of places identified to 2,590.
  • Creating an Index of 1,200 topics to improve the ability to search within the documents.
