CFI Celebrates Nurses Month

May is Nurses Month and Centers for Independence is proud to recognize and celebrate the hard-working nurses on our staff, along with the more than 5 million registered nurses in the United States.

May was first acknowledged as Nurses Month in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, and is now highlighted every year during Nurses Week, May 6th through May 12th in celebration of Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Nightingale is often considered to be the first person to work in the nursing profession.

Throughout the month, be sure to check out CFI’s Facebook page to learn more about the many nurses at CFI.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

One in five adults in the United States live with a mental illness.

In Wisconsin about 46 percent of adults each year who have a mental illness will not receive treatment.

One in six children (ages 6-17) in the United States experience a mental health disorder each year and more than 70,000 Wisconsin children (ages 12-17) have depression.

Recognizing the imperative need among children, CFI’s ongoing efforts to assist those with a mental health crisis expanded in 2022 to include programs for children.
