Learning Opportunities with PUSD & PSEA

An opportunity for bite size learning when you need it most.

Licenses are available for those who want to learn "on demand". Available courses include communication skills, time management, Microsoft Office and Canva.

If you are taking classes related to a classified position, it may be eligible for reimbursement up to $500 per year. Whether it is a one-day seminar, an online training or a class at Poway Adult School or a community college, it can be considered.

Gale has been a a PUSD team member for 10+ years. She recently transitioned from IA Special Ed at Abraxas to Office Specialist at Poway Adult School. She has a passion for teaching and learning technology.

Gale is a Google CLC facilitator, Canva ProGrow Presenter, and she teaches Canva at the Poway Adult School. She is a wealth of knowledge and loves to help new and veteran staff.

DID YOU KNOW? Mentors are assigned to all new classified staff and are available for any veteran staff in need of assistance.

Have you done your annual safety training?

All staff are required to complete annual safety training and you should have received an email for JPA Learning Library (replaced Keenan).

All staff need to completed the Mandated Reporter Training annually and there are some bi-annual trainings that most staff will need to complete. Additional trainings may be required depending on position, site, department, seniority, etc.

Professional Growth Day

MONDAY, JANUARY 29th

This is a day for staff to make learning a priority. Whether it is an onsite meeting, an online training or attending many of the in-person trainings, we encourage you to participate.

Class Suggestion

We have classes ready for January/February Launch Dates. Look for registration to open after we return from Thanksgiving Break. Here are just a few that are planned:

Growth Mindset, Dare to Lead, Uniquely Human, Developing Student Leaders. More are in the works!

CLC are open to contracted classified staff. They are either 20 or 40 hours of learning and once successfully completed, staff are eligible to receive a stipend of $375 or $750. Please note that the majority of learning occurs outside of work hours.

Special Education Orientation

We launched our first in person Special Education Orientation this month. It's a great opportunity to learn about the programs and skills needed to work as Instructional Assistant - Special Education. We encourage all staff hired within the last 6 months to attend.

The next one will be held on December 6th from

9-11am. We will also offer an in person general orientation from 8am-9am for all staff that have not attended one on zoom.
