Asian American Stories 2025 in Hawaii Filipino Chronicle

Elpidio R. Estioko (an author, educator, award-winning journalist, and one of the Judges in the Asian American Stories Video Contest) wrote about this year's contest in the Hawaii Filipino Chronicle (published on page 10).

The Hawaii Filipino Chronicle was established on July 1, 1993 initially on a semi-monthly basis. The first copy came out on October 1, 1993.

The newspaper was created in response to the growing need to reach out to the Filipino community, to inform and educate and provide the vehicle with which the community can grow and prosper.

It has a circulation of 20,000 copies in addition to their e-version.

Learn the story of Kaihua Skyler Chong

"Hi, I'm Skyler, and I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area! Last November, I got to represent the Society of Heart's Delight at the San Jose "Roots" event. It was super cool! I shared the art of Chinese calligraphy there.

Did you know that San Jose had some tough times in the past, but now, people from different backgrounds live together peacefully? At my booth, kids and old people alike wanted to learn how to write their names or where they're from with a calligraphy brush. I even learned the Diwali dance, which was followed by a dragon dance!

That day, I realized something very important: no matter where we are from, we all belong here!"
