Get Your Flu Vaccine Today
A flu vaccine doesn’t always prevent the flu, but it can reduce the wildest symptoms: it can reduce the risk of serious illness and flu-related hospitalization. If you are interested in getting the flu vaccine, ask your primary care physician or check your local pharmacy for availability!

For the best protection against the flu this season, the CDC recommends that you get your flu vaccine by the end of October. Learn more about how you can best protect yourself and those you care about by visiting the CDC's About the Flu webpage. #FightFlu

Pacific Logging Congress' Live In-Woods Show
Abigail Kahrs, Program Coordinator, and Knesha Rose-Davison, Public Health and Equity Director, exhibited at the Pacific Logging Congress’ 9th Live In-Woods Show in Vail, Washington! Abby and Knesha presented on the importance of protecting loggers from musculoskeletal disorders and tickborne illnesses. At the event, they got to see the logging industry in action, they got to test their skills in cross-sawing logs, and they gained insight into upcoming safety concerns for the industry. This new insight will inform what topics AgriSafe will address in our future forestry and logging trainings!
Iowa Rural Health Association Conference
The Iowa Rural Health Association Conference in Marshalltown, IA was held on October 18 and provided a great opportunity for AgriSafe to share our mission and educational resources with the 75 healthcare leaders in attendance!

The attendees indicated that the Nurse Scholar program and FarmResponse training were a perfect fit with the professional development efforts in rural Iowan healthcare. It is also worth noting that women’s health and safety in agriculture was repeatedly discussed! Check out AgriSafe's women's health resources here.
Leman Swine Conference
The 2023 Allen D. Leman Swine Conference, an annual educational event for the global swine industry, was held in St Paul, MN from September 16 - 19. Each year hundreds of participants from over 20 countries attend the conference, including swine veterinarians and other professionals working in swine production and animal health management. AgriSafe's Total Farmer Health Coach, Charlotte Halverson, presented "A Culture of Mental Wellness- Let’s Get Talking" - thank you to the National Pork Board for sponsoring this presentation!

In light of the increasing rates of anxiety, depression, and death by suicide in the veterinarian industry, the conferences focus was on mental health resources and programs. AgriSafe also shared resources focusing on the total health and wellness of swine industry workers and the professionals that care for their livestock. The impact of de-population due to foreign animal diseases was a major topic. We are grateful to the national Pork Check-Off program and the CS-CASH NIOSH Center for assistance in producing our Foreign Animal Diseases & Farmers’ Mental Health resource - check it out here!
