How to Renovate a Sorority or Fraternity House in Madison, WI

Restoring older homes is already particularly challenging, making the renovation of the classic fraternity and sorority houses of Madison’s Greek Row even more difficult. Experience and expertise are necessary, along with creative design.

Sweeney started renovating sorority houses on the Madison campus more than 30 years ago. Our specialty became the sorority houses dotting Langdon Street thanks to the high level of quality, and by 2004, we had expanded across Greek Row including numerous projects varying in size and scope.

What Lies Beneath: Putting the Finishing Touches on an Unfinished Basement

These Madison homeowners wanted to design a new living space in their 1923 bungalow basement from a cold, damp, unpleasant space to a living area their children would love to spend time in.

Sweeney redesigned the existing basement space to create the following areas: an exercise room, media room, 3/4 bathroom, landing zone, raw storage, and furnace room.

Welcome Back Carpenter Pete Knudson

Pete completed the construction and remodeling program at Madison College and worked as a carpenter apprentice at Sweeney in 2018. For two years he worked hard, mentoring under the leadership of our seasoned journeymen carpenters, and soon began managing smaller projects accurately and efficiently.

A family man of four, Pete took a short leave of absence from Sweeney in January 2022 and returned in June. We immediately welcomed him with open arms.
