RINEHART, Mary Roberts (1876-1958)
Mary Roberts Rinehart was an American novelist, playwright, and author, often called the American Agatha Christie. She wrote hundreds of short stories, poems, travelogues and articles. Many of her books and plays were adapted for movies. It was one of her books, 1930 The Door, that produced the phrase, "The butler did it," and in her prime, she was more famous than her chief rival, England's Agatha Christie.

UNTERMEYER, Louis [1885-1977]
Louis Untermeyerwas an American poet, anthologist, critic, editor and translator of more than one hundred books for readers of all ages.. He is best remembered as a prolific anthologist whose collections have introduced students to contemporary American poetry since 1919. Untermeyer was appointed the fourteenth Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1961.

SALA, George Augustus Henry (1828-1895)
George Augustus Henry Sala was an author and journalist who wrote extensively for the Illustrated London News as G. A. S. and was most famous for his articles and leaders for The Daily Telegraph. He founded his own periodical, Sala's Journal, and the Savage Club. The former was unsuccessful but the latter still continues. Sala was one of the most influential British journalists of the nineteenth-century.

This collection dating from 1876 to 1895 includes 11 items in total; 3 Autographed Letters / Note Signed (ALS/ANS), 1 book, 2 volumes, one grangerized with 5 ALS/ANS and one double sided page with a different dated manuscript on each side and two pieces of ephemera....

Bentley. 3 vols. 8vo. viii, 309; 331; 311 pp. A professionally restored handsome set, binding in fine condition, bound in half black leather, ribbed spine with stamping in gilt, marbled paper boards, new endpapers. Contents with some scattered foxing, a few leaves with nicks at the fore-edges, with some leaves nicely repaired. Pages v-vi, 195-6, 213-4 are present but misplaced in vol. 1. Vols. 2 and 3 lack prelims (no title leaf) and begin at chapter 1; vol. 3 lacks pp. 3-4

Free frank dated 16 October 1803 signed by 1st Marquis Townsend from Rainham to Capt Powell of the Old Buckingham Volunteers at Attleburgh, Norfolk. Cover has a clear black mileage mark ROUGHAM 103 (boxed). Tear on top - once stuct down on a red page. Other than a famous Canadian historical person the added interest is the extremely rare good impression of the ROUGHAM 103 mileage mark....

circa 1760. Very early edition. This hand-coloured engraving was trimmed to the edges 295mm x 448mm ( 11-5/8 x 17-5/8 inches) and mounted to a dark card stock. The English only title was mounted on the reverse on the reverse of the dark mounted card. The trimmed mounted engraving has wear to the corners causing some minor rounding. There is surface dirt and soiling on the engraving more so on the sky area. Good- condition..

A young boy sits on a stone with a bowl and a bubble pipe.
JM 1886' Artist monogram and date lower right corner of the print image. Lettered below the image "Bubbles" but trimmed to show only the top half. Below that should have been the printed copy [Painted by Sir J. E. Millais, Bart. R.A. 1886. From the celebrated picture the property of Messrs. A. & F. Pears of London] but this was trimmed off.
Good condition overall and quite attractive when framed....
