Creative Kids open for applications | Creative Kids helps Saskatchewan children facing financial barriers participate in art, music, dance, theatre, and a variety of cultural activities. Phishing email scam alert |
SaskCulture was alerted about an email phishing scheme that is sending emails asking recipients to purchase a "SaskCulture Updated Mailing list." This is not a legitimate product, and these emails should be considered a scam and identified as spam. Please let others know if they receive these emails to disregard and block this sender. And be sure to review some of the leading practices you, and your organizations, can take to help stay safe online.

Inaugural Community Use Archives Award recipients announced | The Saskatchewan Council for Archives and Archivists recently announced Dr. Winona Wheeler and Paul Seesequasis as co-winners of its Community Use Archives Award. The award is intended to recognize and celebrate those who utilize archives and their historical documents to study and advance current topics of research and the arts. Read more. | Report on Canadian heritage institutions reveals increase in digital activities |
According to a 2021 report released by the Government of Canada, many heritage institutions successfully transitioned to virtual platforms during the pandemic, ensuring access to their artifacts, archival records, programming, etc.
While 87 per cent of all heritage institutions in Canada were temporarily forced to close their doors in 2020, leading to loss of income, staff, and volunteers, online virtual visits experienced a less severe decrease. Approximately two-thirds of heritage institutions indicated they enhanced their overall digital activities in 2020, and over half of the institutions said they increased or introduced social media at this time. New Imagine Canada study examines state of EDI in non-profit sector | This month, Imagine Canada and the Equitable Recovery Collective released a new study that examined the state of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) practices in charities and non-profits in Canada. The study, Shifting power dynamics: Equity, diversity and inclusion in the nonprofit sector, shows that while most non-profit leaders support EDI, far fewer take concrete actions to advance it in their organizations. Anti-Racism for Youth Workshop (Saskatchewan Intercultural Association)

Volunteers contribute to growth of historical society

It is thanks to volunteers that the Prince Albert Historical Society has been operating for so long and become one of the oldest historical societies in Western Canada.
