A film remembering the Summer of 2021

Join us outdoors in our new film
re-living The Crossing @ Big Sky 2021
Today, we get back to work in Big Sky – our annual summer residency at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center. (Thank you, host John Zirkle!)

What a difference a year makes!
In the film we made last summer, we ask the question,
"How to be with an audience in a pandemic?"
And then we go on to answer that question, singing outdoors...on mountains, in forests, in an old mill, by creeks and rivers. Works we created in Philadelphia as a response to the pandemic. Works inspired by our Montana experiences. Works that felt like Big Sky was calling us to bring and sing.

This year, we ask new questions in Big Sky – about farming, about our somatic selves, and how to embrace our discomforts, understand whiteness better, and heal the body.

We begin with workshops for our June 2023 premiere of Ted Hearne's Farming. (Thank you Pew Center for Arts & Heritage for your support!) And then we move on to a world premiere concert-length work by Shara Nova: TITRATION, with a concert at the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center in Big Sky, Montana at 4pm August 5 (tickets here)

After Big Sky, TITRATION moves to the Ventura Music Festival in California at 3pm August 7 (tickets here), then comes home to Philadelphia at 4pm August 13 at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill (tickets here).

But first, come outside with us and go on the journey that was Big Sky 2021 in this new film by Micah Robin and Chris Kamman, sound by Paul Vazquez, and music by Ayanna Woods, Gavin Bryars, David Lang, and The Crossing composing duo, Donald and Kevin.

Montana.
Big Sky.
Music.
Mountains.
Paradise.
TITRATION is commissioned by The Crossing – Donald Nally, conductor, the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center in Big Sky, Montana, & Conspirare – Craig Hella Johnson, conductor; with support from Anne and Dennis Wentz and the Joel Brauer Fund for New Music.

There is still time to support our End of Season Campaign!
Help make music, films, and questions like these possible.
