For more than 50 years our family has tended our vineyards and grown our own grapes, for our wines, along the lush banks of the Sacramento River. We are striving to perfect the art and science of grape growing, and we’re proud to share the rewards of our labor by creating wines that showcase distinctive grapes perfectly. Bridging all aspects of our Winery from the Vineyard, to the Cellar, Winery Grounds,Tasting Room and beyond.

Finally, harvest is upon us, not a moment to soon

Written by Winemaker, Ed Seikel

Harvest took quite a while to get here, but it has finally arrived and we already have some really fun and new wines fermenting in the cellar.

Our first load to come in this harvest was a small lot of Chardonnay that will be going into a new sparkling program for GIV, and we are very excited about it! In addition to the Chardonnay, we brought in our Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc, and both seem to be fermenting nicely. Finally, we just brought in our first red wine, just over a ton of grapes from our new block of Malbec! The vines are still very young, but are already producing some really nice fruit, and we have high hopes for this one now, and into future vintages.

Come taste wines you can't buy yet!

Written by Tasting Room Manager, Tess Jonson

It's our favorite time of year, HARVEST!! Join us in the tasting room this month for your opportunity to try a wine that is in the fermentation process. It's so good you're going to ask if we can bottle it and the answer is no. So get in and get it while you can, it only happens once a year!

Join us on October 21st from 1-4pm for a Wine Release with music and an extra special treat, the debut of Salsa Aurora. Chicken and steak tacos topped with Salsa Aurora will be available for purchase.

Save the date, November 11th! Wine club member pickup, winemakers, barrel tasting, and charcuterie.

Harvest Stories by Joe

Written by Operations Manager, Joe Salman

There are so many story lines that could be made for this harvest. I could literally do this all day, but I'll just share the low hanging fruit. (No pun intended.)

TITLES BY JOE:

Cool year, Late Harvest....

Cool Harvest, Crazy Harvest?

How about... Harvest, a Series of Naps.

Harvest 2023, so where did the wineries go?

Night Harvest, did a tractor driver suffer a stroke?

(not funny if he actually did)

Daytime Repairs, did a tractor door

fly out the back of my truck on I-5? (Seems it did.)

Daytime Repairs, did I really park on the side of the freeway

to retrieve a glass door... (that may or may not now be in pieces?)

Apollo 13 mission in the Flatbed Truck.

Yes, that one, that's the one we're sticking with.

It is now October and I would say our harvest is actually at the peak! Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Pinot Noir still on the vines, but currently being harvested. Winemaking will talk about what they have in the winery and what they are excited about. I'm just excited to be updating on Harvest 2023!

Cheers. It will all be worth it when I see your smiling faces, sharing a glass of this truly special wine. I can promise you that.
