Madam C.J. Walker was the first self-made female millionaire in the U.S.



This week, we honor Madam C. J. Walker, born Sarah Breedlove, an African-American entrepreneur and philanthropist. She became one of America's wealthiest self-made women, pioneering the beauty and hair care industry for Black women with her "Walker system" of products. Walker was also a civil rights activist and champion for women's empowerment, using her fortune to support educational scholarships and social causes.
