19th Sunday of Pentecost October 8, 2023

Welcome to St. Laurence

Happy Thanksgiving!

We gather this week with gratitude: for God’s abundant presence, generous blessings, and gifts, both large and small. We come with generous hearts, desiring to share with others what we have received.

As a token of that gratitude and generosity, you are invited to bring a Food Bank item for the children to use in building a “canstruction”! (You may also make a donation through the Thanksgiving envelopes).

If you are unable to join us for worship in person, please join our livestream service through the link below, or watch a video at your leisure.

Videos of past services may be accessed via the livestream link on our website.

THANKSGIVING MESSY SUNDAY SERVICE OCT. 8

Join us for an Intergenerational Thanksgiving service of music, story, and sacrament. Together, we will celebrate God’s goodness and reflect on God’s call to care for the world.

You are invited to bring non-perishable items to the service. These, along with the fresh bounty of the display, will be blessed during the service, before delivery to the Food Bank.

This year’s Thanksgiving offering will also be donated to the Food Bank. You may use the Thanksgiving envelopes (found in the Lobby), the online button on the Website, or e-transfer at adminassit@stlaurence.ca. Simply mark your gift “food bank” or “thanksgiving offering.”

PWRDF
News from PWRDF:

It is my pleasure to inform you that PWRDF has established a fund specifically to allow us, as Canadian Anglicans to respond quickly when a Canadian diocese asks for disaster support. This new fund, called the In-Canada Emergency Response Fund will collect donations on an on-going basis and therefore, funds will be available immediately in the face of disaster rather than the previous method where a diocese asks for funds following a disaster and the fund appeal then was made known to the larger Anglican community. There was always a huge lag in time between the request and the ability to send funds. This new In-Canada Emergency Response Fund will receive your generous donations at any time and therefore, will be ready to act quickly on our behalf. A win-win for all involved.

In the light of all that has happened this summer here in Canada with wildfires, floods and devastation, please consider making a donation to the In-Canada Emergency Response Fund via the website pwrdf.org. I have already sent my thanks and gratitude on behalf of our parish to the team at PWRDF congratulating them on this fine intiative.

With thanks,
Carol
