From the Principal's Desk
The countdown is on! We have three weeks until the first day of school (if you are following our academic calendar). There are many things happening this month as we launch into a new school year. I wanted to highlight a couple of new things happening this year for your information.
HCS now has a Podcast show: Homeschool Talk with HCS. The goal is to broadcast at least one show per month. These will be short 10-20 minute podcasts that will include a wide array of content. For more information about what the podcast is about and what you can expect to hear there, listen to the first podcast HERE.
Highlighting our Volunteer Leadership. We will be featuring our Volunteer Leadership Team both through this newsletter and on the new Volunteer Leadership page on the website HERE. We want you to know these faces and names. Without our Volunteer Leadership Team, we would not be able to offer all the many different services and events that host. Make a mental note to reach out to the Volunteers as they are featured and thank them for their service to our HCS families.
We are launching two new class days and a new Junior Academy (for grades 1st-6th) this year. Please pray for these new endeavors that they may prosper and bless our growing HCS community.
New Family Events. We have added many new families again this year and will be hosting two events (one per semester) in an effort to get to know these families and make sure they feel at home here at HCS. These events will be open to anyone who wants to attend and meet some new people. More information to come soon.
As always, we have ideas and suggestions from the membership about things you would like to see at HCS. We are always willing to explore adding new services, clubs, and events, but we need YOU to make it happen! To that end, here are a couple of current needs. Please pray about what God may be calling you to do to serve within the HCS community.
Mentors. It's a new year, which means we need a new (or returning) group of MENTORS to assign to newer families as needed. If you are interested in serving as a MENTOR, please fill out this FORM. Once we open the application for families to request a Mentor, we will match up requests with those on the MENTOR list.
Ministry and Missions. We have an ongoing relationship with the San Diego Rescue Mission, but we are always open to more ways for our HCS members to serve. If you would like to head up a service project, or even a short-term missions trip, please contact the office. You will always be able to see what Ministry and Mission opportunities are available by visiting the website HERE.
Finally, HCS is excited to team up with Teach Them Diligently for their first San Diego convention in hopes of making this an annual event. We encourage all HCS families to attend and invite a friend or two. The event will take place on Saturday, October 22nd at Sonrise Church in Santee. There is a great speaker line up! For details about the event and to register, click HERE.
Keep your eye out every Monday for the newsletter. There is more information coming in the weeks to come. This newsletter is the primary way we communicate to the membership. If you are skipping the newsletter, you are likely missing out on important information, deadlines, tryouts, events, and more!

Praying for a great 2022-2023 school year for you all!

Administrative Updates & Announcements From the Office
General Liability Form
For All Members For All Activities

If you are in multiple clubs or participate in multiple events at HCS, you have had the experience of filling out multiple liability release waivers. We are changing the process this year to an online General Liability Release Waiver for ALL clubs, activities, and events hosted by HCS. Once you fill out this ONE online form, it is good for the entire school year for all HCS happenings.

The form is found on HSL HERE. You will need to login to your HSL account to fill out the form. The form is located on the third tab of the menu options. Please fill out one form per student per year. You will not be able to participate in clubs, events, and select activities without completing this form. It takes about 1 minute to fill out and then you are done for the year.

Contact the office with any questions.
As you know, HCS has a text notification system that we use to send the weekly newsletter link and occasionally other important announcements and reminders. Beginning this school year, our text number is now the same as our office business phone number. So if you don't already have our office number, (858) 541-2254, saved in your contacts, please save it now so that you can easily identify texts from the office.

Classroom fees are to be paid directly through the Homeschool Life Registration site (HSL). The payment link to pay those fees will open on August 29th.

With Much Growth Comes Much Opportunity!

As HCS continues to grow and add new Class Day Campuses, we find ourselves in need of seasoned homeschooling families to help launch the newer campuses. Several Lead Teachers are needed at both the Clairemont and Escondido Class Day campuses next year.

Are you in a season of life to add either of these new campuses as a second class day option next year and be part of the team launching this campus? Or perhaps you are not able to attend the class day, but are able to volunteer to teach a class. If either of these scenarios are an option for you, please contact the Leads at either Clairemont or Escondido and see how you can help!

For the 2022-2023 school year: There will be no extra charge to add either the Clairemont or Escondido Class Day as a second class day campus.

Meet our Five
Class Day Leads

Class Days provide classes and social opportunities for the entire family. Please take a moment to thank your Lead when you see her on campus this year!

Each volunteer has wonderful and unique strengths. We encourage you to visit our Volunteer Spotlight webpage to read about each individual.
