Graduates of Leadership Fresno have gone on to hold leadership positions in a variety of organizations; they have been elected to political office – like former Fresno Mayor, Ashley Swearengin; and many have found their participation in the program positively affected their professional lives. Each class also has a special attachment to the program, a fact often evidenced by the frequently repeated phrase “My class was the best class ever!”

Every day hundreds of Fresno area adults, teens, and families seek safe and stable housing, health, education, and rehabilitation resources, but there simply are not enough resources, and the resources that exist are spread out across town, making them difficult to access. The new City Center will provide opportunities for any adult or family who wants to make a positive shift in their life(s), and subsequently the lives of their children. No more trying to figure out transportation and how to get from one place to the next for the help you need. Yet the children still only see a big building with lots of doors and offices, and don’t know what to expect. And while their parents are going to various organizations to address those life challenges, what options exist for the children? What if there was a place for the children to go where they can temporarily recharge and escape the challenges they face, and glimpse a hopeful and safe future while their parent(s) navigate the available assistance?
Leadership Fresno Fresno Class 37 has the honor and privilege to provide a space for just this. The new “Future Leaders Lounge” will assist an estimated 27,000 children annually who will visit The City Center with their families.
If you would like to be a sponsor/partner in this vision, please let me know. I’m certain you all know how to find me! Your sponsorship will enable us to build a state-of-the-art digital lounge; complete with areas for relaxation, access to learning through technology, a quiet place to recharge with a book, a space to create art, or just simply relax with a snack during their families' difficult times. With your help, we can create a safe place for kids to be kids while their parent(s) take on the task of getting help. Mental health resources are extremely lacking in Fresno, and I am hoping to find ways to change that!
I am so honored and humbled to get to do what I do in this life!
Love to you all, Debi
