10:00 AM Holy Eucharist at St. Stephen's

Dear friends,
Postponed two years due to COVID, the Lambeth Conference is being held this and next week. The Lambeth Conference, described by The Episcopal Church website, is “a gathering of bishops from across the Anglican Communion for prayer and reflection, fellowship and dialogue on church and world affairs”.
Bishop Lucinda sent a letter to the people of our diocese about the
Lambeth Call on Human Dignity. It has been controversial because of language that rejects . . . ‘homosexual practice . . .and any blessing of same-gender unions.”. I strongly encourage you to read her letter and then read more about the Lambeth Conference and Call at the conference website The link for both is included below.
A message from Bishop Lucinda:
The Lambeth Conference website:
I can only speak for myself. As a priest in The Episcopal Church, I completely agree with Bishop Lucinda and am fully supportive of same-gender and mixed gender marriages. This is my stance. I am not speaking for all the members of St. John’s and St. Stephen’s. We can disagree and walk together on our spiritual journeys. That’s one of the reasons why I love the Episcopal Church!
I welcome your calls.
Blessings and peace,
Karen+

Growing up without
air conditioning,
in the summers I
would lay in dark rooms
reading and re-reading
fantasy books
about brave lady
knights and wild mages,
running through the
sprinklers at dusk. CA
native plants like to
rest in high summer
too, buoyed by brief,
deep waterings.

Family Outing
Friday Aug 5 trip to Angel Island
|
|
Golden Gate Transit Ferry from San Francisco to Angel Island departs at 10:25 am for $28.00 round trip (ages 13-64), $14 (ages 65+), $15.20 (ages 6-12).
On Angel Island there is a guided tour for $7.00, children 5-17 $5.00. There is a shuttle which traverses the island for $12.00. Bring a picnic lunch. Dinner will be at the Ferry building upon our return about 5:00 pm. Family and friends are welcome! Reply to Janet to arrange car pools.
The United States Immigration Station Museum on Angel Island is a beautifully restored structure offering a window into a very important time in the history of Pacific Coast immigrants. The Station, operating from 1910-1940, served as the main immigration processing center for hundreds of thousands of immigrants from all over the world looking to start a new life in America. A direct result of the passage of the Chinese Exclusion Act in 1882, the U.S. Immigration Station detained immigrants while they endured interrogations, medical exams; sometimes for no reason other than their national origin.
Today, the United States Immigration Station serves as a museum dedicated to interpreting and making connections between the experiences of those who made the journey to America over 100 years ago and the continuing story of immigration in America today. The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday for general admission for a fee and is operated by the staff of Angel Island State Park.

NEEDING PRAYER SUPPORT?
Prayer is one of those things we often think about, might feel inadequate about, believe in but might be unsure how to proceed. How we pray is sometimes unique to each of us. The Church provides help in many ways. If you find yourself in need, of any kind (emotional, physical, spiritual, guidance, etc) consider how St. Stephen's can support you:
* there is a prayer chain of committed pray-ers (who maintain confidentiality).
* tell people about your answers to prayer! and the miracles you witness, or how prayer changes YOU.
Please submit prayer requests to Rev. Karen.
