Lindsey's Story
Lindsey Fluellen has been selected as the Champion of Recovery because of her perseverance and dedication to recovery and the passion she has for helping others overcome the battle of addiction. We are proud to have her as an active participant of the Rockdale County Recovery Community.

CHAMPION OF CHANGE
Mona Franklin
We are proud to announce this month's Champion of Change is Mona Franklin. Mona works for Rockdale Coalition for Children and Families (RCCF) in Conyers and has served as the Project Director for the Drug-Free Coalition for eight years. She partners with other agencies and individuals to bring awareness an education throughout the community on drugs and alcohol, as well as promoting a positive, healthy living environment where families can thrive.
Prior to accepting the challenge with RCCF, Mona worked at Newton County Juvenile Court for more than seven years as the Chief Intake Officer and Juvenile Drug Court Coordinator. Mona spent over 20 years as a Child & Adolescent Counselor with Newton County Mental Health/GRN and more than 8 years working with youth at Georgia Mental Health Institute. Mona has dedicated her entire life to helping others and is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and families. We would like to thank Mona for her continued efforts to supporting families and serving our most vulnerable populations and that is why she is this months Champion of Change! Thank you Mona Franklin from the Rockdale Community!

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
You are invited to join in our efforts to increase prevention, education and awareness about the stigma facing all people impacted by mental health challenges and substance use disorders. This campaign is for all community members and will run from now throughout National Recovery Month, ending on September 30th.
Come out for brunch on August 17th from 10:30-12:30 as the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners recognizes and appreciates the contributions of local area non-profit organizations. This is a free event.

Public Invited to Join the Conversation On the National Housing Crisis and Impact on Rockdale County. Rockdale County Post I and Post II Commissioners will host a housing needs forum on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 2:00pm – 4:30pm at J.P. Carr Community Center, 981 Taylor St., Conyers, GA 30012. 
August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day, a day of remembrance and awareness was organized in honor of those that have lost their lives to substance use, acknowledge those that are struggling with substance use, and support those that are in recovery from substance use.

As we continue to intentionally grow in our recovery we invite you to our daily Recovery Oriented zoom meetings in hopes that our recovery community will also grow in numbers. We know that it is our duty to carry the recovery message to those that still suffer. If you or a loved one needs the support of a recovery community, we meet every weekday at 11am and 6pm and again on Saturdays at 6pm. RECOVERY CAPITAL KICKOFF CAMPAIGN
It is our goal to provide people support, care and resources they need to sustain long term recovery from substance use and mental health challenges. We have a new building to grow in and we need our community's support.Your donations will make a real contribution to the recovery community. We are accepting monetary and in-kind donations such as office supplies, folding chairs, file cabinets, as well as volunteer services to help our upcoming renovation projects!
