Soldner Center for the Arts and Innovation

Fostering Curiosity, Creativity and Community

The Soldner Center Master Plan Development Story

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, Begin it.

Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”

Attributed to Goethe

In 1957 Paul and Ginny Soldner began their dream to build their home and art studio in Aspen, Colorado. They had no idea that their home and life would evolve into an inspiring and welcoming gathering place for good friends, students and colleagues.

Eventually they transformed their vision to include five unique and stunningly inventive buildings that supported their creative ideas and lifestyle. They lived life to the fullest and encouraged others to follow their dreams as well.

If you don’t know their inspiring story, we invite you to click HERE and view the presentation their daughter Stephanie presented last year at Scripps College in Claremont, CA and sponsored by the Claremont Lewis Museum of Art. The pictures are incredible and even those who

knew both Paul and Ginny well will discover new stories of their life in these pictures.

Building Blocks

After both Ginny and Paul passed away, Stephanie convened a national council to envision the future for their remarkable home and property. The mission statement and vision for the future were created.

“The Soldner Center is dedicated to the Soldner legacy of transformative experience

by fostering Curiosity, Creativity and Community through integration of the arts, alternative architecture, energy, and the natural world.”

In 2021 the nonprofit Soldner Center for the Arts and Innovation was formed, and a Board of Trustees chosen. Thanks to those of you who made generous donations in 2022 to our Founders Fund. You gave us the foundation to begin and sustain this journey of honoring the Soldner legacy.

Building on a Legacy -

the National Council's Vision

With growing interest and support from the public and others, we are now ready to further develop the programming at the Soldner Center for the Arts and Innovation. Building on the National Council’s vision,

SCAI plans to offer multidisciplinary residencies for emerging or mature professional visual and performing artists, writers, scientists, philosophers, architects, visionaries, and educators.

The Soldner Center will

Offer 1 week or longer Innovators-In-Residence

Partner with local & national organizations or universities as sponsors

Continue tours of the Soldner buildings and art collections to the

....public

Use the Soldner property for small events, conferences or group

....meetings

     Host educational gatherings and exchanges

Encourage scholarly study of the Soldner legacy

This plan includes building additional housing units that will be modest and visionary for Innovators-In-Residence and staff along with a dining and gathering space, all with a goal of being Leeds certified.

How Can You Help?

This visionary undertaking will require a Master Plan submitted and approved though the Pitkin County Development Department. We have been advised that we will need to raise a minimum of $200,000.00 to cover rezoning, engineers, surveys, plats, development documents and fees, land use consultants, lawyers’, and real estate professionals.

It is a daunting task!
