Frockt named Philanthropist of the Year
Richard Frockt of Las Vegas, Nev., will be recognized as WKU’s Philanthropist of the Year, which honors the generosity, leadership and commitment of the recipient, at the inaugural Hilltopper Excellence Awards during Homecoming 2023.

In April 2023, WKU announced an additional $500,000 gift from Frockt that elevated the Frockt Family Professorship in History to the Frockt Family Chair in History. The endowed faculty position was established in 2003 in recognition of a gift from Richard, Janet and Ryan Frockt, who was a student at WKU at the time of the announcement. The most recent gift brought his total commitment for the Frockt Family Chair to $2 million.

At the time of the announcement, Frockt said he was inspired to continue to give back to his alma mater because of how WKU changed his life as a young man.

“Everything you do at Western Kentucky University can impact your life if you take advantage of the opportunities, and I had the desire to do something important,” Frockt said.

The Hilltopper Excellence Awards, presented by Franklin Bank & Trust, will be held on Thursday evening, Nov. 9, at Knicely Conference Center. In addition to the Philanthropist of the Year, the premier event will include induction of the 32nd Class of the WKU Hall of Distinguished Alumni and additional awards that celebrate achievement and service.
