General Membership Meeting Recap


It was a full house at the Hilton's Micronesian Ballroom where over a hundred members and guests gathered to meet, exchange business cards, catch up, and hear from our featured speaker, Ms. Melanie Mendiola, Chief Executive Officer and Administrator of Guam Economic Development Authority our featured speaker, who provided the group with insights and updates about GEDA's Strategic Plan. Members also brought new and unwrapped toys to help kick off the 2023 Toys for Tots program.

Our next General Membership Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the Somnak Ballroom, Westin Resort Guam. 2024 Board Elections


This year's annual Chamber Board elections are just around the corner. The 2023

Nominating Committee, led by Chairman Ed Untalan, is seeking members in good standing interested in filling working positions on the 2024 Chamber Board. Eight seats are available: six three-year seats and two alternate director, one-year seats will need to be filled by eligible candidates. The Chamber Board has a legal responsibility to make decisions and promote activities that benefit the Chamber and its mission. Members interested in serving on the Chamber Board are encouraged to contact any member of the Nominating Committee:

  • Ernie Galito, Atkins Kroll
  • Frank Cruz, Guam Fast Foods

Helpful dates and deadlines follow:

  • October 25: Chamber GM Meeting: Introduction of candidates + nominations from the floor & closing of nominations
  • October 27: All nomination forms & candidate photo (headshot) due by 5:00 p.m.
  • November 3: Meet the Candidates Mixer, 5:00 pm @ Security Title
  • November 9: Electronic Ballots sent to the membership
  • November 15: Annual Meeting & Announcement of 2024 Board Directors
  • December 4: New Board Orientation & Ethics Training, 9:00 am


IRS orders immediate moratorium to Employee Retention Credit processing until the end of the year


WASHINGTON — Amid rising concerns about a flood of improper Employee Retention Credit claims, the Internal Revenue Service announced an immediate moratorium through at least the end of the year on processing new claims for the pandemic-era relief program to protect honest small business owners from scams.

Toys For Tots Kick-Off


Si Yu'os Ma'ase, members, for helping to kick off this year's Toys for Tots program by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to Wednesday's general membership meeting. Lt. Colonel Christopher Driscoll, Executive Officer, Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz provided attendees with historical information about the program, and thanked the Guam Chamber and its members for continuing this partnership since its inception on Guam in 2010. Through the generosity of various businesses, organizations, schools, and the community at large the program has been able to provide a Christmas toy to children in need - not only in Guam - but throughout the Marianas Islands.


If you would like your facility to become a drop-off site, sign up by clicking on the link below and we will be sure to add you to the list of drop-off sites. Toy collection officially begins next week and will continue through December 1st. U.S. Marines will pick up all toys the week of

December 4th.

SBA Small Business Awards

Sunday, April 28 - Monday, April 29, 2024


National Small Business Week is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate their achievement and the essential contributions they make across the country.


To nominate a small business owner in your area or download related forms, criteria and guidelines, visit SBA's website. All nominations must be submitted electronically by 6:00 am December 8, 2023 (CHsT). The award will be presented during the NSWBS Award ceremony in Washington D.C. from Sunday, April 28, Monday, April 29, 2023.


The SBA's signature award during NSBW is the Small Business Person of the Yea. A small Business owner from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam will be selected for individual Sate Winner award. The states award winners will complete for the title of National Small Business Person of the Year.

Identifying, Reporting, and Preventing Acts of Hate


The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Guam Federal Bureau of Investigation Guam Resident Agency will be hosting a program overview of Identifying Hate Crimes and Understanding the importance of reporting.


This meeting will take place at the Guam Community College Multi-Purpose Auditorium Building 300 on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. Doors open at 9:15 am for light refreshments.

October is approaching quickly, which means National Arts and Humanities Month is upon us! The Guam Council On Arts & Humanities Agency is excited to celebrate Guam CAHA's 56th anniversary with the proclamation signing and exhibit opening in correlation with the largest annual of the arts and humanities in the nation. The CHA would like to invite you to the proclamation signing and exhibit opening scheduled for Friday, October 6, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. A collection of pieces from Guam’s local artists will fill the 2nd floor of the DNA Building celebrating arts and humanities.

Guam Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP)

Public Meeting


The University of Guam Center for Island Sustainability and Sea Grant, the Department of Agriculture, and the Inner City Fund invite you to a public meeting for the Guam Habitat Conservation Plan scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the University of Guam, Jesus and Eugenia Leon Guerrero School of Business and Public Administration Building.


The Guam HCP is a plan that protects and conserves Guam's endangered species and their habitats for future generations while promoting sustainable economic development. The plan is being developed by the Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the University of Guam Center for Island Sustainability and Sea Grant and the Inner City Fund.
