Linn-Mar Celebrates 75 Years!
Historic Highlights:
Armstrong Field
Another chapter of our great district!
In 1962, Indian Creek Elementary was operating and the property purchased for that building was determined to be large enough for a football and track facility behind the school.
The first football game at the new stadium was played on September 18, 1962.
Unfortunately, Coggon defeated Linn-Mar 27 to 0.
In 1970 it was named Armstrong Field in honor of the volunteer team doctor who was killed in a plane crash.
The facility was upgraded over the years.
The track was reconstructed with an all-weather surface, the first of its kind in Iowa.
Due to frequent flooding from Indian Creek, the stadium was relocated to its present location in 2011.
