Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

City of Marshall offices including City Hall, Municipal Court, Water Billing, and Library will be closed Monday, January 20, 2025 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The City will reopen for service on Tuesday, January 21 at 8:00 am.



The pond at City Arena will be open from sun up to sun down. The Oaklawn Golf Course will also be open from 7:30 am-7:00 pm.

Winter Weather Information

On the city's website, find a compilation of winter weather resources including up-to-date winter weather forecasts, driving conditions across Texas, SWEPCO outage information, and ways to take care of the 4 Ps: people, pets, plants, and pipes.

With upcoming winter weather predictions, the city is participating in weather briefings offered by the National Weather Service-Shreveport. City staff is closely monitoring weather and road conditions and will provide updates as necessary on the city’s website, social media pages, newsletter, and/or via the city's emergency notification system based on information received during the briefings.

January Employee of the Month

Lacy Burson was recognized as the January 2025 Employee of the Month. Lacy was nominated for her tireless dedication, commitment, and work as Main Street Manager. In this role, she works year-round to plan the city's annual Wonderland of Lights festival including coordinating volunteers, overseeing events and activities, and securing sponsorships for the festival. Additionally, Lacy collaborates with downtown business owners to support their ongoing revitalization efforts and promote the downtown area.

2025 Republic Services Fees

The City of Marshall contracts with Republic Services for all garbage collection. Charges for this service are reflected each month under the Sanitation portion of a customer’s water bill.


Garbage is collected once per week, and Republic Services provides each customer with a 96-gallon rolling cart to place garbage in for pick up.


Effective January 1, 2025, residential accounts will be billed $16.78 per month as established by Ordinance 0-24-14 adopted by the City Council on August 8, 2024.


Republic Services offers customers the ability to pay their bill online, view past invoices, receive service alerts and notifications, view collection schedule, report a missed pickup, schedule a bulk pickup, and more via their Customer Support page. Blood Drive

Marshall Public Library is hosting a Carter BloodCare blood drive on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. To skip the line, donors are encouraged to schedule a time to donate. Walk-ins are welcome.

 

In addition to saving 3 lives, donors will receive a hooded long sleeve--lighter than a hoodie and better than a long sleeve!



While all blood types are needed, there is currently a critical need for A-, B-, and O- blood as well as an urgent need for platelets and A+ and O+ blood.

The City of Marshall uses the CivicReady Mass Notification System to send emergency alerts and other notifications.


Subscribers can register to receive messages via phone call, text message, and/or email in English or Spanish (other languages also available).

The City is installing new water meters with a smart meter reading system. Replacing old water meters will ensure that residents' water usage is tracked accurately.


The new, digital smart water meters will offer residents access to real-time water usage data through an online portal and a smartphone app.
