Ozanam Orientations are designed to set up our new Vincentians for success and re-energize those Vincentians who have already served. In Fréderic Ozanam’s original vision for the Society, he expressed a desire that Vincentians use their meetings as an opportunity to serve neighbors in need and personal spiritual growth. When Vincentians gather together at traditional meetings and innovative webinars, they can share their talents and resources in service of our neighbors in need.
Please check out these great opportunities for the Fred Talks - great 4 - 5 minute videos that can be used for reflection at your Conference meetings!

Spiritual Reflection
Contemplation — Grateful Friends
|
|
One of the four permanent principles of the church’s social doctrine is solidarity, which is a “common path of individuals and peoples towards an ever more committed unity.” [CSDC, 192] Whatever may separate us on the surface, each of us is created in God’s image, and meant to live in community. Solidarity reminds us that we are all dependent and interdependent upon each other.
As Vincentians, we often encounter those who are deprived materially, and who, because of their deprivation feel separated, forgotten by the rest of society. It isn’t only that they cannot afford “the finer things in life,” but that over time, they begin to feel those things are not really meant for people like themselves. Read more...

We will offer them up in prayer weekly.

National Gazette Questions and Answers
Q: Should members of the Conference be permitted to perform services for which they are compensated by a neighbor who is being helped by the Conference?
A: Members of the Society should not accept compensation from those we serve for the works that we do as Vincentians. What we provide in the way of resources and our time is a gift to those in need. No payment is to be accepted.
Vincentian connections are not proper to make business solicitations for work done outside of the Society. Otherwise, nothing prohibits a Vincentian from conducting their usual business services for someone who receives Society services. We do not restrain trade; however, there should be a clear distinction between what is provided as Society service (at no cost to those receiving the services) and what may be done as a contractor, etc.
Preguntas y Respuestas de la
Oficina Nacional
