THE SECOND SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY

January 19, 2025

Dear George,

The various wildfires consuming Los Angeles have riveted my attention this week, and I thank those of you who joined in prayer for the afflicted. My sister, brother-in-law and nephew had a very near miss, and old seminary classmates and a parishioner from St. Edmund's were less fortunate, losing their homes. The Diocese of LA also lost a treasure...St. Mark's, Altadena. Many of you recall Fr. Joseph Lane, on staff at St. Mark's and who has supplied at St. Paul's. His home is presently safe.

On a happier note, clothing and 900 toys were distributed to five impoverished communities last Monday on Tres Magos. Thanks to all who brightened the lives of so many.

This coming Sunday, January 19, is our Annual Meeting. There will be one Liturgy only that day at 10:15. The liturgy is a bilingual Mass setting composed by Canon Hebert in collaboration with Xavier Hernández.

The Spanish language congregation will then meet in the parish hall to receive simultaneous translation during the meeting following Eucharist. Please send reports to our parish administrator ASAP.
