This week’s text is a familiar one: the story of Joseph finding out that Mary is pregnant! Joseph has a big decision to make. His family would have advised him to quietly divorce Mary, and according to the laws of the time that’s what he should have done. But God was at work in a different way. God showed Joseph what the future could be, and now Joseph would have to choose between what his community would want for him, and what God has called him to.

God, we give You thanks for Jesus, Your son, who came into the world to make all things new. Give us the courage to step into the new things You call us to. Amen.

December 18

No Sunday School

During the 10:30 service our Sunday schoolers will present their Christmas program as part of worship. Afterward, ALL are invited to Fellowship Hall for a Birthday Party for Jesus!

Experience this deeply meaningful service in your own home by listening, meditating, and lighting candles. We'll honor people we've lost and acknowledge the grief that some may experience during the holidays. Tune into Facebook Live @ 7 pm.

Last Call for First Communion!

First Communion classes will begin for 3rd graders and older on Sunday, January 8. If you would like your child to participate, please contact Michelle Lata.

End of year giving

Thanks to all who support the sharing of Christ's love with our community through Geneva Lutheran Church! Our first quarter has been strong—thanks to your giving!

As you plan your end of year generosity, here are a few reminders:

Online giving is a great way to give and giving from a bank account rather than a credit card can help avoid additional bank fees.
Gifts mailed to the church must be postmarked by December 31, 2022 to be included in 2022 giving statements.
Stock Donations and Required Minimum Distribution gifts (for those 72 or older) are also a great way to support our ministry. Talk to Lisa in our office.
