Our Weekly Message

News, Invitations, and Ministerial Reflections

September 22, 2023

Hello, UUSS!

I have been here for a month now, and in that time I’ve been lucky to meet many of you. In our conversations, you are always eager to share what a special community this is, and welcome me into our shared work warmly. You tell me about the groups you are a part of, about meeting your spouses at this church, and about raising your families here. As you share your stories with me, I can start to imagine the tapestry of UUSS.

I wanted to work at UUSS because I have never been a part of a congregation this size, and I hoped to gain skills and experience in ministry with a vibrant, engaged community. Over the past month as your Ministerial Intern, I have led worship, attended many meetings, and through it all started to gain a sense of the depth and beauty of this group of people. Each week, I learn about another ambition, another way of welcome, another way this community is interconnected. It has been a joy, and more joy will unfold.

Thank you all for your warm welcome. I can’t wait to see what I learn next!

With joy,

Rosemary

Help Wanted

Tech help needed

The Auction Committee is looking for a tech-savvy someone to join our friendly and creative Website Team. You would be working with the Auctria software that supports the Auction - the system behind all the action. Tasks our Website team tackles include editing the on-line catalog, and running reports to see how many items have been donated and what the final tally is! The existing team of three volunteers is here to welcome you in and get you up to speed. If this sounds like you, email auctionhelp@uuss.org. Thanks

Check out our volunteer spreadsheet to see all the ways you can help.

Celebrate 40 years of Loaves and Fishes

October 15: Celebrate 40 years of service with Loaves and Fishes at a special event being held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church!

Loaves and Fishes is a long time UUSS community partner and we have an opportunity to support them by joining their staff, volunteers and clients for music, snacks, stories and learning more about their important mission to serve the homeless in our community.

Where: 2391 St. Mark’s Way, Sacramento, CA

Time: 4:00 PM -5:30ish

How we can help make it a success: In addition to showing our support through attendance at the event, we have been invited to contribute snacks to the festivities. If you would like to do that, even if you can’t attend, please contact Bobbie Keill at partners@uuss.org. Snacks can be brought to the church on Sunday morning and will be delivered to the event.
