Join me in honoring the 470 Panthers who will receive their high school diplomas in ceremonies tonight at Panther Stadium! Congratulations to these students and to all of our parents, guardians, friends, and families who have helped the graduates achieve this milestone.
As announced at the Senior Awards Assembly on Wednesday evening, this class is a high achieving and well-deserving class. Nearly $1.5 million in scholarships have been awarded for the next academic year to these students. When renewed over a four-year period, awards total over $3.9 million. Many of our graduates will enter military service or go directly to the workforce. We are very proud of all of our graduates.
As I think about graduating classes, it is evident that high school graduation is more than just what happens in high school. Our students who walk across the stage at graduation are a culmination of their experiences from PK through 12th grade. Thank you to all of the teachers, principals, coaches, sponsors, support team members, and others over the 13-year journey who have helped shape the young people that we celebrate tonight.
