Dear Families of the MS 104 Community:

Happy Friday! The new school year is off to a great start! It has been wonderful meeting our new students and families, as well as reconnecting with our returning ones. Over the first two days, the assistant principals and I have been checking in on our classrooms, speaking with students, and engaging with parents at morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal. The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive. I am excited for the work we have ahead and the many things we will towards together over the course of the school year.

Please see some updates and announcements below.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Rocco Macri, Principal

Students DOE Email Accounts

It is very important that all students are able to access their nycstudents.net email accounts in order to access a variety of learning platforms for their classes. For those that remember their usernames and passwords, there is nothing you need to do. Those students that need to reset their passwords should follow the instructions below. It is essential that students have access to their accounts by Monday so that they can fully access all learning platforms. We thank you in advance for your assistance and attention to this matter.

Resetting Student Passwords

Yondr Program Takes Effect Monday, September 11th

As a reminder, we will be instituting the full cell phone policy beginning this coming Monday, September 11th. Pouches will be distributed to students during morning homeroom. We ask that upon receiving their pouches, students neatly write their name and class on the pouch. This will help us return them to a student should they misplace it, as well as organize them for redistribution next year as we collect them at the end of the school year.

As a reminder, you can find the MS 104 2023-24 Cell Phone Policy here.

School Meals Available Daily!

All students are welcome to free school breakfast and lunch daily. The cafeteria is available to all students who would like to have breakfast from 7:40 AM- 8:20 AM. Students can access breakfast service free of charge by entering the building at the main entrance on 21st street. Only students wishing to have school breakfast can enter the cafeteria, and must remain in the cafeteria until 8:20 AM. They will then report to homeroom directly from the cafeteria. School lunch is available free of charge to all students during all lunch periods.

Student Planners

A number of parents have inquired about purchasing MS 104 planners from the PTA. Please be aware that the PTA does not sell planners. Families wishing to purchase a planner for their child may do so from any store of their choosing. I apologize for any confusion regarding this issue.

Digital Emergency Contact Form

Each year, all students must have an emergency contact card filled out. Our school collects cards both digitally and via the traditional blue emergency cards. Having this information in both formats is critical to our student safety and emergency preparedness systems. In the event of an emergency that requires our students and staff to evacuate the building and report to a relocation site, the digital contact form will be of great assistance in contacting families. We also require the hard copy blue emergency cards to be filled out in the event that we lose access to the internet due to power outages and/or connection capability during an emergency.

I ask that all families complete the Digital Emergency Contact Form here by next Friday, September 15th. The hard copy blue emergency contact cards will be distributed to students in the coming days.

Thanks in advance for helping us ensure that we are as prepared as possible for an emergency involving your child and/or our school community.
