FREE AGING AND CAREGIVER EDUCATIONAL SERIES COMING TO PLACERVILLE IN JANUARY



The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency’s Area Agency on Aging, through its Family Caregiver Support Program (FCSP), is excited to offer a free, four-part educational series on senior caregiving in January 2025. This series is designed to provide valuable insights and resources for individuals currently caring for or planning to care for a family member or friend aged 60 and older.



“This comprehensive series covers essential topics such as understanding the caregiver role, safeguarding against scams targeting seniors and caregivers, recognizing signs of neglect and self-neglect, and understanding the legal rights and responsibilities of caregivers,” said Jordan Brushia, Program Coordinator for the El Dorado County Area Agency on Aging. “Each session will feature presentations from local experts, including representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, Adult Protective Services, and Senior Legal Services.”


The classes will take place on Wednesdays, January 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Placerville Senior Center, located at 937 Spring Street, Placerville, CA. Scan the flyer for more information!

Keeping Worship Safe


The community is invited to an enlightening symposium dedicated to enhancing the safety and security of places of worship. This event offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights from industry experts and connect with others who share a commitment to safeguarding sacred spaces.



The symposium will open with remarks from El Dorado County Sheriff Jeff Leikauf, followed by engaging presentations on critical topics, including Behavior Threat Assessment, Suspicious Activity Reporting, Cyber Security, Vulnerability Assessment, and a Shooting Debrief of the First Baptist Church in Texas.



Whether you’re a member of a security team, a religious leader, or simply interested in contributing to this vital conversation, this event provides something meaningful for everyone.

Keeping Youth Warm with CASA and Active 20-30 Club!


Gold Rush #1034 and Hangtown #43 Active 20-30 Clubs will be donating their coats to CASA of El Dorado County.


Community members can drop off coats to any club member or come directly to the service event on Jan 25th! Get in touch with the local chapters to find out how to donate!

23rd Annual is Back!


The Baby Shower and Diaper Dash is an exciting and competitive annual event that brings the community together to support local pregnancy centers. This year, the center is calling on supporters to help them win by donating diapers, pull-ups, and baby wipes—particularly larger sizes, which are in high demand.


For those unable to drop off supplies, monetary donations are also greatly appreciated to assist in purchasing these essential items. Every contribution helps the center continue providing free services and resources to the community.


Join the fun on Friday, January 24th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at 3105 Cedar Ravine Rd., Suite 103, Placerville, CA. The center extends heartfelt gratitude to the community for its ongoing support and looks forward to seeing everyone there!

Interested in Learning More About CASA Advocates?



CASA El Dorado will host its first Information Session of 2025 on January 21st at noon via Zoom.


These sessions offer an excellent opportunity to learn more about CASA’s advocacy for abused, neglected, and at-risk youth in the community. The Executive and Program Director will be available to answer questions about becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate or exploring other ways to support the organization.

Upcoming Events!

Lesser Known Placerville

Cemeteries Tour

On Saturday, January 25th, community members are invited to join the second annual tour of some of Placerville’s lesser-known and fascinating cemeteries. The tour will feature six sites: the Methodist Episcopal Federated Church Cemetery, Placerville Old City Cemetery, Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Uppertown Cemetery, Pioneer Jewish Cemetery, and the Pest House Cemetery.


This free event is open to all ages and offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of these locations.

Participants will meet at the Federated Church parking lot, located at 1031 Thompson Way, at 10:00 a.m. In the event of rain, the tour will be rescheduled for Sunday, January 26th, at noon.


Registration is required to attend.

The community is invited to an unforgettable evening of entertainment, laughter, and celebration as part of the 175th Anniversary of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. The event will feature delicious food, cocktails, games, and mesmerizing magical performances, promising a night to remember. The celebration will take place on February 8th, 2025, at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds and Event Center, Forni Building.
