The Spirit of St. Nicholas

June 1 to June 14, 2023

Sunday June 25

Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

Jeremiah 20:7-13

Psalm 69: 8-11, (12-17), 18-20

Romans 6:1b-11

Matthew 10:24-39

Sunday, July 2

Fifth Sunday after Pentecost

Hosea 5:15-6:6

Psalm 50:7-15

Romans 4:13-25

Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26

The very love we have for each other in Christ brings deep sorrow when we are parted by death. Jesus himself wept at the grave of his friend. So, while we rejoice that one we love has entered into the nearer presence of our Lord, we sorrow in

sympathy with those who mourn.

We are sorry to report the passing of our beloved member –

Dorothy Webster.

Please keep Dorothy and her family in your prayers.

Funeral details will be passed along when available.

Fr. Darius Sudayi+ will be leading the service

this Sunday, 25th of June.

Please join us in person or online.

Thank you Lynn Norris for your hard work and dedication to this project - and to Christian Valley Church - our sister church for providing lunch. And to CVEM for their support. It really was a great program with such talented performers. So happy St. Nicholas could be a sponsor.

Kathy and Aleisha McMurtry manning the

St. Nicholas Juneteenth table.

What a beautiful day and a great turn out for "Juneteenth: A Cultural Showcase" last Saturday in Hamilton. Thanks to our members who turned out for this wonderful event which our church helped sponsor. Thanks to director Dex Williams, Jr. (seen in photo talking with John Winsness) and all of the other young performers (as well as those not so young) and support people who worked so hard to make it happen. Check the St. Nicholas facebook page for a video of the performance,

which should be up soon.

Parish Picnic at Blue Springs

Our tradition continues with the outdoor service at the Callaway family’s Blue Springs on Sunday, August 6 at 10am.

A covered dish picnic will occur after the service.

There will be a covered food sign up a few weeks before.

It is fine to bring friends, swimsuits and towels!

Please plan to come and enjoy worship and fellowship at this beautiful (and unique) location.

We will celebrate St. Nicholas's consecration on the 1st of October. There will be sign ups coming soon for various aspects of this day so please stay tuned for more updates.

Rector’s Discretionary Fund Needs Bolstering

In keeping with Church Canon, St. Nicholas has a Rector’s Discretionary Fund to meet, confidentially, critical needs of the poor in our community. Payments are not made to the individual directly but to the

landlord, utility, or other provider.

Chattahoochee Valley Episcopal Ministries provides similar

support throughout our convocation.

The St. Nichlas account has always been funded by designated gifts, occasional loose offerings, or services performed for weddings and funerals. For some time, St. Nicholas has received a sizeable,

monthly gift to the Fund. The gift has not been renewed this year and

other donations are slim.

As a stopgap, the Vestry has decided to assign all cash loose offerings to the discretionary fund account until gifts resume at usual levels or other sources are identified. Currently, loose offerings are very small

so we also asking for larger gifts in order to meet the

appeals that St. Nicholas receives.

Change to Tai Chi schedule.

Tai Chi, hosted by Lynn Norris, will change to Tuesday mornings at 10am for the summer months.

If you have an event coming up, an announcement you'd like to share, or have recently experienced a birth, death, or sickness and would like some EXTRA prayers!! Send them to contact@stnicholashamilton.org or call the office at 706-628-7272.
