B is for Bumblebee
Not only is B the letter of the week, in Morah Aviva's EC4A class, but children also worked on their honey bee mats in preparation for Rosh Hashanah. The class began their Rosh Hashanah/Apples unit this week and one of the concepts learned was we eat sweet fruits and food so that we may have a sweet new year. Therefore, we dip apples into honey because honey is sweet. Morah also explained that Rosh Hashanah is the birthday of the world. Everyone thought that was pretty amazing! Morah also taught her students that a shofar is a ram’s horn. She explained that we listen to the sounds of the shofar because it is a sign that Hashem is telling us all to “Wake up!” and think about our choices and promise to do better in this new year. The children are also learning the different sounds of the shofar and love calling out the number of blows for each one. The class also had a blast during Share and Tell as everybody shared things they brought that began with the letter B.
