NEVADA MOONSHOT FLIGHT CREW

The Nevada Moonshot Flight Crew is a group of Nevada youth ranging between the ages of 12 to 16 who are ready to engage in opportunities & advocate for STEM. The members will receive monthly trainings on public speaking, advocacy, leadership, and more.

Meet Flight Crew Member, Danielle!

Danielle is interested in mechanical engineering and enjoys working hands-on and creating projects. In addition to creating & programming robots, Danielle has invented a shoe prototype called Switch Your Sole, which allows users to wear multiple shoe types by reattaching different soles to the same shoe. Danielle is also passionate about finding ways to use more cost-effective materials, like hydraulic and pneumatic technology, to provide students with more materials to use when building. Danielle is "grateful for the opportunity to represent girls in STEM-related interests."

NV Flight Crew at the 2024 NV Afterschool Showcase

Our Flight Crew and Flight Crew alumni played a crucial role in representing youth voice at our annual conference. Current Flight Crew members: Danielle, R'mani, Malia, and Teresa showcased their passion for afterschool during the show-and-tell session.

Flight Crew alumni, Caitlin, Phoenix, and Siana, participated in a panel discussion with Dr. Linda Johnson-McClinton. They highlighted the importance of afterschool programs and shared why youth voice should be a factor in making decisions about afterschool.
