Our ongoing series exploring the Border Security crisis continues, and we are thrilled to get a chance to speak with Congressman Dan Crenshaw on this week's Call to Action! Congressman Crenshaw, who has recently been appointed to lead the newly formed Congressional Task Force dedicated to combating the Mexican drug cartels, is at the forefront of investigations aimed at identifying and implementing effective measures to counter the pervasive influence of these powerful organizations.
Even prior to his appointment, Congressman Crenshaw has been a staunch advocate for increasing pressure on Mexican cartels. These organizations are not limited to local organized crime groups; they operate on an international scale and engage in various criminal activities. In some cases, they possess more advanced weaponry than the Mexican military. The range of their illicit operations extends from human trafficking of migrants to the importation of lethal fentanyl.
Congressman Crenshaw brings a unique perspective to understanding these organizations, drawing from his childhood experiences in South America and his notable career as a Special Forces Operator. The task force under his leadership will generate policy recommendations that may involve designating certain cartels as International Terrorist Organizations. Such a designation carries far-reaching implications for US intelligence, military, criminal and financial efforts in combating these cartels. I am eager to join you and Congressman Crenshaw for this week's Border Security Call to Action, where we can learn more about Congress' endeavors to secure our border against these powerful syndicates.

A Breakdown At The Border | |

New Customs and Border Protection data released today shows 204,561 illegal immigrants were apprehended attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in May.
-
This is the second highest total for May in 22 years.
- With more than 6,500 crossings daily, Biden's border crisis is overwhelming the system.
- This is the first time in history that monthly apprehensions at the southern border have surpassed 150,000 for 27 consecutive months.
- May's 200,000-plus encounters is a 337% increase from the average number of May apprehensions from 2017-2020.

9,943 unaccompanied children were apprehended.
-
108,234 illegal immigrants were apprehended from countries outside the Northern Triangle and Mexico, showing that Biden’s crisis is global.

At least 125 people on the terror watchlist have been apprehended trying to enter the U.S. between ports of entry so far this fiscal year, a new record.

More than 6.9 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since Biden took office.

This includes the 1.4 million gotaways have escaped past Border Patrol into the U.S.

Border officials say that the official number of gotaways vastly undercounts the illegal immigrants who make it into the U.S.

Illicit drugs are flowing into the country at an alarming rate with only 5 to 10% being intercepted as border officials struggle to contain the smuggling.

2,626 pounds of deadly fentanyl was seized at the southern border in May alone, with much more getting through.

The latest state jobs report shows that eight of the top 10 states for jobs recovered since the coronavirus pandemic began are led by Republican governors, and all 10 states have Republican-controlled legislatures.

Out of the top 16 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 13 are led by Republican governors.

The bottom line:
The numbers don’t lie and the contrast in leadership is stark – while Joe Biden creates crisis after crisis, Republican governors are creating jobs and economic opportunity. Biden’s failed agenda causes suffering for American families while Republican-led states continue to keep Americans working, children in schools, and small businesses operating.
