Make a Splash This Summer!
Nothing is more refreshing than cooling off in a pool of water on a hot summer day. While very young children might not be jumping in the swimming pool quite yet, the concepts of water, bathing, and water play for infants and toddlers with visual impairments can still be introduced in a fun, accessible way. HERE are some ideas to help you cool off this summer with a “splish, splash” of water.
Special September Events
It's a Horse, of Course!
Has your child ever touched a horse? Please join A Shared Vision as we meet the McNicholas miniature horses on Saturday, September 17, from 10 to 11:30 am at Centennial Center Park in Centennial. MAP

McNicholas Miniatures bring joy, love and therapeutic benefit through the support and companionship of their miniature horses. Come meet “Love Bug,” “Happy Times,” and their trainers. We will also have a “Horse Sensory Station,” where you and your child can experience a saddle, a bridle, a grooming brush, hay, horseshoes, and more! We will also “horse around” with a song together. Space is limited so RSVP HERE.
Off to Preschool!
When your child turns three, what’s next? Although you may no longer be eligible for early intervention services, there are so many preschool options to consider for your child! Join EI-TVIs Kimala Rein, Maggie Tutt, and special guest, Monee Hutton, a parent of a preschooler from the Western Slope, for an A Shared Vision "Mystery Party” about going to preschool on Wednesday, September 21 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm via Zoom.

During the one-hour, virtual program, you will learn about the variety of preschool options for children with visual impairments, the benefits of these programs, and how your EI-TVI can help you with this important transition. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers at the end of the event. Register HERE.
An Attitude of Gratitude

We are so grateful for the James Hynd Trust for the Blind, which just awarded A Shared Vision $30,000! Children in Colorado have a brighter future because of the support from this generous Boulder-based foundation. And we will meet the growing demand for in-home vision services with wonderful teachers. Thank you!
Sign Up for 2022 Vision Screening Training
Early Intervention Colorado awarded A Shared Vision the contract to update the state’s vision screening protocol as we begin returning to in-person evaluations.

The updated protocol for 2022 supports evaluations conducted in person, via telehealth, as well as a hybrid approach.

Each EI Evaluation assessment must begin with a hearing and vision screening because of the potential impact of sensory delays on the developmental assessment process and interpretation of causality.

Training for EI Evaluators, as well as CCB professionals and providers, is now available! To review modules and upcoming dates, click HERE.
A Shared Vision is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the leading provider of in-home and community early intervention vision services in Colorado. We inspire and empower families to nurture the development of their very young children who are blind or visually impaired so that all children may discover their brightest future.
