Diversity Matters-Take Home Storytimes for K-3
Shake up book-sharing time with your children with our new take-home storytime bags! Tired of reading the same old books with your kids? Not sure what’s new and inspiring in children’s literature?

The Tipp City Public Library Children’s Department is excited to share with you an assortment of new books and discussion topics to open up a dialogue with your children on diverse topics like social-emotional learning, the black experience in America, multiculturalism, and kindness. These “heavy” topics will be covered in a child-friendly way through picture books, and include suggested “dinner-talk” questions to help you have a discussion with your children about the lessons that can be learned from these books.

Look for these special take-home storytime bags in the Children’s area later in August through the fall, on top of the Picture Book section. Please take only one book bag at a time since the supply is currently limited to 20 book bags and topics. The book bags can be checked out at the Main Service Desk and should be returned in the same bag to the Service Desk. Please do not try to return them in the book drops. You may keep the activities and discussion questions in the bag.

This project was supported by funds from the American Library Association's American Rescue Plan: Humanities Grants for Libraries program. Part of the funds from this grant were used to purchase books for young children that spotlight empathy, and cultural awareness, and promote diversity in children’s literature to help children understand our world.
