We are happy to announce that the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory is ready to accept samples for the new canine genetic tests identified in the Canine Genetics Lab of Dr. Kari Ekenstedt. Thank you for your patience as we have worked to get everything organized over the past months. We understand how important these results will be to you and your program.


The new genetic tests cover three conditions:


PLEASE NOTE: these are the only canine genetic tests that are available at our lab.


Additional information for each of these tests including submission forms, sample submission protocols, payment, and result interpretation can be found on the Canine Genetics Test website. Payment MUST be completed and a copy of the receipt MUST be included with the submission form.


Items to include with the shipment:

  • Submission Form: one for each individual adult or one for each litter
  • Receipt: must be paid in full
  • Utilize the online payment site to complete orders paying careful attention to order the correct test based on number of dogs (1-3 dogs or 4+) dogs in addition to single test or combo test (both Miniature American Shepherd tests)
  • Sample: reference sample submission protocols for instructions regarding sample packaging, labeling, and shipping.
  • International samples - print and follow the directions from the USDA Importation Documents
