More Than A Shop
You walk in, take a chair. For the next 30 minutes to sometimes 2 hours, someone listens, really listens to you. It’s a safe place to talk about everything – from sports to family matters and politics to health. All for the price of a haircut and a style.
Nowhere is that more evident than within Black barbershops and salons. Black barbershops have long been—and continue to be—central hubs of the Black community, places to congregate, connect, share, and overall, embrace a community.
Read how some Lincoln barbers and salons are reaching out to be "more than a shop" to the people who depend on them in our latest Health and the City column in the Lincoln Journal Star. Cowritten with LNKTV Health.

Staying Up-To-Date
For the first time there are vaccines for all three fall respiratory viruses that hospitalize and kill hundreds of thousands annually. You can get your flu vaccine now and the new COVID vaccine when released early around October.
RSV vaccines are approved for older adults and for pregnant women, and antibody shots (not vaccines) available for babies. Talk to your doctor about who should get the RSV vaccine.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and protecting the health, wellness, and fitness of Lincoln's children, families, and seniors.
We work to improve wellness policies and conduct community level health research. We collaborate with community partners to promote healthy weights through good nutrition and fitness, improve child and maternal health by supporting breastfeeding, create better patient outcomes by increasing cancer screening and vaccination rates, improving chronic disease management, increasing preventative outreach, and standardizing clinical practices. During public health crises like the COVID 19 pandemic, we help to protect community health by providing science and evidence-based information.
Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln also works to improve health equity in our community, addressing disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest burden of chronic disease. Systemic racism is also a threat to community health. We stand in solidarity with everyone who is fighting for greater equality and justice for all.
