Dear Rising Tide Students and Families,

We look forward to seeing our Upper School families this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. for our Back to School Night. For those new to Rising Tide, this is an event for parents, guardians, and caregivers to come meet with teachers and school leaders and learn more about the program and goals for the year. For the families of seniors, the event will include a College and Future Planning information session.

We hope that many of you will also join us next week for the 25th Anniversary Celebration! This Thursday at 12:00 p.m. is the deadline for purchasing tickets to the 25th Anniversary Celebration. At this gala, an adult event for parents, guardians, and friends of Rising Tide, we will celebrate 25 years of student exploration at Rising Tide.

Monday, September 18: The Rising Tide Board of Trustees will have its monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. This meeting is open to the public.

Thursday, September 21: Back to School Night for Upper School (9-12) families at 6:30 p.m. The evening will also include a College and Future Planning information session for families of seniors. 

Friday, September 22: Rising Tide will host a boat dance for Upper School students from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale during lunch.

Tuesday, September 26: The first SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) meeting of the school year will be held at 7:00 pm.

Thursday, September 28: The 25th Anniversary Gala will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Jones River Trading Post in Kingston.

Thursday, September 28: ASVAB Testing for upper school students will take place at 8:00 am.

Saturday, September 30: There will be a 25th Anniversary celebration and cook-out on the Rising Tide field from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Monday, October 2: Students' pictures will be taken by LifeTouch from 8:00 am - 2:00 p.m.

Wednesday, October 4: The Rising Tide Parent Group will hold its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. in-person and online.

Join Us for Rising Tide's 25th Anniversary Gala Celebration

Deadline to purchase tickets is noon on Thursday, September 21st.

Rising Tide's 25th Anniversary Gala celebration will be held on Thursday, September 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the Jones River Trading Post. This adult-only event will feature heavy hors d'oeuvres, music, and games of chance. The deadline to purchase tickets is this Thursday at noon. Tickets can be purchased via the link below. We hope you will join us for an evening of celebration.

Extra Bus Added to Wareham Route Tomorrow!

Bus G, operated by First Student with Danielle as driver, will be added to the route currently served by Bus A, operated by Lucini. As that bus was routinely overcrowded, students may now take either Bus A or Bus G from the Walmart (15 Tobey Road, Wareham) with morning pick up at 6:53 am. Afternoon drop-off is approximately 3:26 pm (and approximately 12:26 pm on early release Wednesdays).

A Call for Student Artwork

As a highlight of the gala, we are hoping to put together a showcase of past visual artwork from students ranging from grades 5 through 12. If possible, we would love to borrow and showcase your student’s work for the night. All artwork will be returned to students after the 28th. If you have artwork available, it can be dropped off at our main office any time before September 22. 

• There is not a limit to the amount of artwork that you can submit.

• Please note that this work does not need to be matted or framed in any way.   

• Please be sure that the student artist’s name is written clearly on the back of the work.

Update from the Parent Group

• Refreshments for Upper School Dance. The upper school students have asked for snack and water donations for Friday’s Boat Dance. Check out the Sign Up Genius to see how you can help out. You can bring your donation to school when you come for Back to School Night on Thursday evening, or donate cash and a parent volunteer will do the shopping. Thanks for your help making this a special night for the upper school students to kick off the school year! 

• Parent Group Meeting Notes. Thank you to all the parents who joined the Parent Group meeting last week! We had an interesting and informative discussion with Mr. O’Keefe, Ms. Williams, and many parents that covered a wide range of topics, including upper school schedule changes, parent concerns, and upcoming opportunities for family engagement. Click here to read the meeting notes.   

• October Parent Group Meeting. Mr. O’Keefe and Ms. Williams scheduled the next Parent Group meeting for Wednesday, October 4 at 6:30 pm. Parents can join the hybrid meeting in person in Room 190 or on Zoom. Meeting ID: 864 1529 2203, Passcode: 950255

Get Involved in Student Government

Each year, two upper school students per grade are elected to represent their classmates in Student Government. Student representatives are voting members of Student Government and must attend every meeting. This year, Student Government meetings will be held Thursdays during lunch in Room 124.

Students interested in representing their grade this year are invited to complete the Interest Form here. Please complete this form by the end of the school day on Friday, September 22 to be considered. Elections will be held on Friday, September 29. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Orman or Ms. Carlucci, Student Government Advisors.
