Seven Hunterdon Towns Qualify For
First Round Of County Tourism Grants
One month ago, the Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners announced a plan to boost tourism by encouraging and assisting local festivals and Main Street events in Hunterdon County communities.

Hunterdon County Commissioner Board Director John E. Lanza said, “When this program was approved in May by the Board, I stated the grants are aimed at helping our municipalities to re-establish festivals or main street events that have been pushed aside by the covid pandemic.” 

Frenchtown Named the #1 ‘Best Small Town for Shopping’ By USA Today’s Reader’s Choice Travel Awards
Frenchtown has been named the ‘Best Small Town for Shopping’ in America by USA Today’s 10Best Reader’s Choice travel awards, finishing with the most votes over such other well-known communities as Sedona, Arizona, Dahlonega, Georgia, and New Hope, Pennsylvania.
 
“Congratulations Frenchtown, you are now nationally renowned,” John E. Lanza, the Hunterdon County Commissioner Board Director, said. “This is a tremendous achievement for the community and a great way for the county to kick off its Explore Hunterdon: The Other Side of Jersey tourism campaign.
 
Hunterdon County welcomes all to explore the other side of Jersey this summer season, because tourism helps to spur economic growth in the county.”


2022 Senior Art Show

The public can tour the art show by appointment Monday through Thursday or Fridays after 12 noon.

Hunterdon Public Works 2021 Annual Report Details Twenty-Nine Completed Projects
 
Major Projects Completed In Addition To Ida Emergency Repairs
The Hunterdon County Department of Public Works issued its 2021 Annual Report, outlining the completion of numerous county public works projects over the course of the past year, County Commissioner Board member Shaun C. Van Doren announced at the June 7th Board meeting.
 
Van Doren, the Board’s liaison for the Public Works Department, said, “The report documents twenty-nine completed projects, from road reconstruction, surface treatment, line striping, culvert and bridge repairs or rehabilitation, and bridge painting. The report includes before and after photographs, a true testament to the work of the Department."

NAMI Hunterdon is conducting a student challenge to raise awareness about mental health issues. NAMI would like to present a $2,000 award to a high school student who submits an expressive arts entry (any medium) that responds to the topic of mental health.
Entries must be completed and submitted by July 31, 2022

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day: Advancing Equity
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) serves as a reminder about the factors surrounding abuse and neglect of older persons. The pandemic highlighted the disproportionate impact of tragedy on underserved communities, including seniors, who faced high rates of elder abuse, fraud, and nursing homes deaths.
