Recently Funded Projects
Ventura County Wildfire Collaborative (VC-WC) Project - $2.7 million

VCRCD, in partnership with Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council, Ojai Valley Fire Safe Council, Bell Canyon Fire Safe Council, Ventu Park Fire Safe Council, and Jensen Hughes has been awarded $2.7 million by Cal Fire for the Ventura County Wildfire Collaborative (VC-WC) Project. The collaborative's mission is to “Establish a countywide, collaborative approach to design, implement and maintain a holistic, wildfire resiliency strategy that builds individual, local and regional capacities to better prepare for, prevent, mitigate, respond to, and recover from potential wildfire threats for Ventura County neighborhoods and communities located in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI), now and into the future.”

Oak Park Unified School District Monarch & Pollinator Habitat Restoration - $122,000

The VCRCD recently won an $85,000 grant from the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy as well as $37,000 in match funding provided by the United States Fish & Wildlife service to partner with the Oak Park Unified School District (OPUSD), located within the Santa Monica Mountains, to restore approximately 2 acres of pollinator habitat at three school sites. The project will create a robust youth engagement and educational program around monarch butterflies and pollinators for the students to assist with site preparation, implementation, and maintenance. Outdoor classroom sessions will be offered with some of the students chosen to help to educate the public on implementing butterfly-friendly stewardship techniques in their own yards!
