Did you catch Mission Centers of Houston on the morning news ?

We are thrilled to share with you the successful event we recently hosted for our homeless community. We believe that it is our duty to serve those in need, and this event was a wonderful opportunity for us to do just that.

We were blessed to see so many of our homeless community members attend the event and take advantage of the services provided. It was heartwarming to see the smiles on their faces as they enjoyed the delicious food, received a fresh new haircut, and received valuable health screenings.

We believe that events like this are important as they not only provide immediate relief but also serve as a reminder that there are people who care and are willing to help. We remain committed to serving our community and providing support to those in need.

Thanks to the generous support of our partners, Johnny Carrabba Family of Restaurants, The Look Salon, and Your Healthcare Solutions, we were able to offer a range of free services to our guests. The event included a catered lunch provided by the delicious Mia’s Table, free haircuts provided by the talented stylists at The Look Salon, and free health screenings provided by the caring professionals at Your Healthcare Solutions. We are also grateful to our dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the event ran smoothly and provided a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.

We look forward to continuing to serve our homeless community and providing support to those in need.

Volunteer Spotlight: Ronela Coroiescu

Shining The Light on Ronela

Ronela started volunteering at Gano Mission Center in July 2021. She recalls one summer when Maribel Ayala and Cheryl Chadwick visited her Sunday school class at Woodridge Baptist Church to speak about Mission Centers of Houston. She felt the urge to come and volunteer and has been coming since. She started to volunteer in our homeless and senior ministry, she now only serves in our homeless ministry. She loves to serve them and loves to fellowship with the staff and other volunteers. She has also volunteered her husband, Adelin, to come and make shelves in the Gano gym for storage, which has been a big blessing. This year she and her husband hosted our summer missionaries in her home for a delicious lunch/dinner and pool day. Both she and her husband have been a true blessing to Mission Centers of Houston.

Women With Purpose Blesses Our Seniors

We are excited to share with you a heartwarming story about Women With Purpose;  a group within our Mission Centers of Houston community who have been busy creating beautiful gifts for our senior adult program. This group of ladies has brought so much joy and love to our seniors, and we are grateful for their efforts.

The Women With Purpose group have been meeting regularly to study scripture and grow in their faith. As they gathered together, they began to think about ways they could make a difference in their community. After some brainstorming, they decided to create handmade gifts for the seniors in our community.

Each woman in the group used their unique talents and skills to create something special for the seniors. The gifts were all made with love and care, and the seniors were overjoyed to receive them.

One senior, Maria, shared with us how much the gift meant to her. She said, "I was feeling down and lonely, but when I received this beautiful pen, I felt like someone cared about me. It brought tears to my eyes."

For the seniors in our community, receiving these gifts meant so much more than just a physical item. It was a reminder that they are loved and valued. Many of our seniors are living alone and may not have close family or friends nearby. The gifts from the women's bible study group brought a sense of community and connection to their lives.

Improving Community Health

We are thrilled to announce that Harris County Public Health recently paid a visit to our Joy Mission Center to provide much-needed assistance in getting our community signed up for comprehensive health services and programs. This is a significant step towards improving the health and well-being of our community, and we are grateful for the support and expertise of the Harris County Public Health team.

During the visit, the Harris County Public Health team provided a range of resources and information to help our community members access the health services they need. They provided information about various programs that are available, including immunizations, family planning services, and disease management programs. They also provided educational materials and resources to help our community members learn more about important health topics, such as nutrition, exercise, and mental health.

We hope that this visit will encourage more community members to take advantage of the many health services and programs that are available to them. By working together, we can improve the health and well-being of our community and ensure that everyone has access to the care they need.

Happy Fathers Day

This past week we celebrated Father's Day and we would like to take a moment to recognize and express our gratitude to all the wonderful fathers in our senior community. Your love, guidance, and support have helped shape the lives of so many, and we are truly grateful for all that you do.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to The MET, who generously prepared gifts for our senior fathers to celebrate this special day. Your kindness and generosity have brought joy and happiness to our community, and we are truly grateful for your support.

On behalf of everyone here at Mission Centers of Houston, we wish all the fathers in our community a Happy Father's Day!

Mission Centers Goes To School

We are excited to share with you our latest project at Mission Centers of Houston. As summer school begins, we have partnered with local schools to bring some fun and creativity into the classroom. Our team of interns and SNY Missionaries visited schools and hosted craft workshops for children.

We understand that summer school can be a challenging time for kids, especially those who struggle with academics. It's important for them to have a well-rounded experience that includes hands-on activities and opportunities for creativity. That's why we are thrilled to be able to offer these craft workshops to students.

Our hope is that these workshops will not only provide a fun break from traditional summer school lessons, but also help children develop important skills such as creativity, problem-solving, and fine motor coordination. We believe that by fostering a love for the arts at a young age, we can encourage children to explore their passions and develop their talents.

2023 Summer Missionaires

This year our summer missionaries come from TX, MS, AL, and Georgia.

They are close-knit brothers and sisters in Christ who are tirelessly serving our communities despite the Houston heat. Please join us in praying for them as they left their homes to serve at MCH this summer. If you would like to support them by providing a meal you can always visit our meal train and Click Here to sign up to provide breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Investing In The Next Generation

Juan Bautista and Brayan Leon have been active participants in our organization for many years, and we have had the pleasure of watching them grow and develop into exceptional young men. They have demonstrated a strong commitment to Christ, their education, as well as a deep passion for serving their community.

We are honored to be able to support them in their journey towards higher education and are proud to have played a role in their development. These scholarships are just a small way for us to show our appreciation for their dedication and hard work.

We believe that investing in the education of our youth is essential for building strong, resilient communities. Mission Centers of Houston is committed to supporting young people in achieving their academic and career goals, and we are thrilled to see Juan and Brayan take the next step in their journey.

We want to thank all of our supporters and donors who make it possible for us to provide these scholarships. Your generosity enables us to make a positive impact in the lives of young people like Juan and Bryan.

Please join us in congratulating Juan and Brayan on this well-deserved achievement. We wish them all the best as they embark on this new chapter in their lives.

We welcome cash and non-cash donations: Let us help you allocate a non-cash contribution, or click here to make a donation to help support the many ministries of MCH!
Thank you for your support and encouragement as we continue to meet the physical and spiritual needs of people living in Houston's inner city with the love, mercy and grace of Jesus Christ.
