Bill Potts Joins Diocese as CFO

IMG_1472.jpg

The Diocese of Utah is happy to welcome Bill Potts to the diocesan staff as our new Chief Financial Officer.

Bill brings a varied and eclectic portfolio to his work in the diocese having served for over 10 years as a pastor concentrating on youth/college and career, children, singles ministry, and music. For nearly 25 years in the area of church administration and finance as a Parish Administrator in several denominations.  With a degree in Sacred Music, Bill has participated in the development of contemporary praise and worship/contemporary services in several churches. Bill became a member of the Episcopal Church in 2005 while serving an Episcopal congregation in Austin, Texas.

Our new CFO comes to us from the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona where he served for four years as the Canon for Finance and Property.  During Bill’s time with the Arizona Diocese, he participated in the Bishop’s transition as well as developing a renewed culture of support between the Finance and Property office and the 65 churches and ministries that the Diocese of Arizona supported.  He participated in the development of a growing Hispanic ministry, Native American ministry, and management of the diocesan budget and foundation.

In his spare time, Bill enjoys cooking, traveling (cruises), watching the latest in Sci-Fi, and crocheting.

Bill will be working with the finance staff of the diocese to maintain the financial health and reporting of the Bishop's office.  In his role as CFO, Bill will also hold an ex-officio seat on the Finance Committee and the Diocesan Council.

Bill will also be working with our congregations in support of their financial operations and reporting (ie: audits, parochial reports, assessments, monthly and quarterly reporting, etc.) As the role develops, he is hoping to add diocesan educational opportunities and training as further support of our congregations and ministries.
