Podcast with Grant Jolliff
By Phil Tietjen
In the most recent episode of the Learning Conversations podcast, I sat down and talked with English instructor and Piedmont Hub co-director, Grant Jolliff. Among the various topics we chatted about were his experiences teaching in an Active Learning Classroom and his work with the Piedmont Teaching & Learning Hub. Enjoy!

Starfish Update
By Dori Lloyd

We had excellent faculty engagement in our Starfish survey with 70 faculty submissions. From that feedback, we found that the majority of respondents reported that the new flags and kudos worked fine.

  • How well did the newly revised Starfish flags meet your needs?
  • 85.7% (60) - Worked Well
  • 14.3% (10) - Needs Improvement

  • How well did the newly revised Starfish kudos meet your needs?
  • 92.8% (64) - Worked Well
  • 7.2% (5) - Needs Improvement

However, we did receive some helpful suggestions for improvement. Given the overwhelming positive feedback, we are not looking to make considerable changes. The Steering Committee has proposed a few slight adjustments based off of the survey results, and we are now working with our Faculty Advisory Group to finalize those updates hopefully by the end of Fall 2022.

Our Starfish Faculty Advisory Group includes: Julie Dillon, John Rosenberger, Gloria Johnson, Tiffany Hemrick, Bruce Bowman, Meredith Parker, Paul Campbell, Ebony Maynor, and Aaron Brewer. Connect with one of your peers if you’d like to impact this work.

We look forward to sharing our progress. Thanks again for your very helpful feedback!

Over 100 people attended the Holidays around the World celebration. Activities included a scavenger hunt, crafts, and socializing. It was a rare opportunity for Global Scholars to get to know each other.

Happy Holidays to all!
