Congratulations to LFA alumnus Andrew Silver '08, who was named to Crain's "40 Under 40" list of businesspeople. Silver and 39 others are being recognized for the mark they've made on their industry and on the city of Chicago. Silver is the Co-founder and CEO of MoLo Solutions. Read about Andrew here.
Brissett '15, Argos Win CFL's Grey Cup
Congratulations to Dejon Brissett ’15 and the Toronto Argonauts, who recently won the franchise’s first Canadian Football League Grey Cup since 2017 with a 24-23 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Brissett finished his second season with the Argonauts after being selected as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 CFL Draft.

The Mississauga, Ont., native played two seasons at Lake Forest Academy before playing collegiately at the University of Richmond and the University of Virginia.
Now is the Time! Tis the (Giving) Season
December is 1/12 of the year, but it's the time when the Academy receives the most donations.

Last year, just under 1/3 of the Academy Fund goal was contributed in those 31 days. Gifts ranged from $5 to $100,000, all gifted to ensure that students and faculty had what they needed in the months ahead.

We need your support, and the time is now. This year’s Academy Fund goal is $1,775,000. Each gift is important, and the Academy relies on the support of our Caxy community as we prepare for the spring semester and new needs ahead.

When a science teacher wants to do a new experiment in the lab – your support is there.

When inspiration strikes in the pottery classroom – your support is there.

When an athlete laces up their shoes for the first time – you are there.

Want to give another way? Check out our Ways to Give page for information on stock transfers, matching gifts and other helpful details.
Season for Retirement Giving
‘Tis the season of giving, and there are many ways for you to make a gift to LFA.

Retirement assets represent an excellent opportunity to provide support while realizing significant tax benefits. For example – did you know that you can make gifts directly from a traditional IRA to qualified charities like LFA beginning at age 70½ up to a maximum of $100,000 annually ($200,000 for couples with individual accounts) free from federal income tax? Most states also provide tax-free treatment. Additionally, your gift could count toward your required minimum distribution (click here for age details and other information on required minimum distributions).

For more information on gifts from retirement assets, visit LFA’s gift planning webpage.

Have You Claimed Your Funds from the Caxy Legacy Challenge?
The Caxy Legacy Challenge, fueled by Sheri Kersch Schultz '72 (Ferry Hall alumna and 2022 Woman of Distinction honoree) and David Gupta '81 (LFA alumnus, Trustee-elect, and 2021 LFA Hall of Famer), provides immediate challenge funds to individuals who create a new bequest commitment or who verify an existing bequest through documentation. Challenge dollars are directed toward a current endowment fund of the donor's choosing. Eligible estate gift commitments of $50,000 or more unlock 10% of the gift's face value from the challenge pool, up to a maximum of $10,000.

Estate gifts strengthen the LFA endowment, providing stability for the school's future. Endowment funds provide essential resources for student financial aid, faculty professional development and other designated purposes. Click the link to learn more about the Caxy Legacy Challenge or visit LFA's gift planning webpage at lfa.givingplan.net.
