Hello to all of my happy readers!!!
My birthday month went by way too quickly. I had such a lovely time, and I got two cakes!! I am grateful. My AJ made it here on the morning of the Pride celebration. It was wild--just a lovely turnout.
My hubby and Janet gave me a terrible head cold. I was down for the count for a couple of days. Just trying to feel better--it was a doozie.
July is a time when I do a little bit with my family. We do not travel too much. We save that for the fall...We are definitely off-season travelers. We are going to pop over to Friday Harbor and do a little glamping. Looking forward to spending some time with my John. I am also going to the Taylor Swift concert with Janet and Amberly. We are going to do a whole girls weekend...stay in a hotel and go to the Space Needle and laugh a lot and have a ton of fun.
We will be downtown to watch the 4th of July of Parade, and then we are having some friends over for BBQ and fun.
I am really looking forward to announcing our upcoming events at the store. We have kept them secret for some time and are ready to share them with you all!! I would really like to be a little further along--however, with illnesses running amuck, it has been challenging. We will be open for Art Walk this month and next month.
I would like to say that I have read a TON, but I have been a little distracted by life and my recent head cold!! I am also crocheting the most amazing cardigan...I can NOT wait to wear it to the shop! Let's just say...you will definitely be able to spot me in a crowd--hahaha!
Let's just start this rundown of books read/listened to with...I AM A FAN OF MAC BARNETT! They are soooooo fun, and perfect for family road trips...There is a little something for everyone! Mac B Spy Kid series...two thumbs up!!
I finished listening to Big Gay Wedding, by Byron Lane, and it was really fun. It was clever and kept me very entertained. It was charming and heartwarming without being too over the top. I listened to The Art Thief, by Michael Finkel, and it was totally awesome--a nonfiction book about an art thief who got away with it for years, put together after interviews--very well done. I also listened to My Murder, by Katie Williams, and just WOW! A really interesting idea: a serial killer is out there and the book is set in the future. People are cloned and it gets very messy. I liked it very much. The ending bothered me at first, but upon further reflection I do think it was a good ending. I am about halfway through Mortal Follies, by Alexis Hall. It is fun! Fairies and goblins--definitely for fans of Discovery of Witches. The writing is very witty and I will report more later.
I read Pageboy, by Elliot Page, and I am very grateful for their story and for their transparency. I also am a little more than halfway through Yellowface, by
R.F. Kuang, and it is good! It is sooooo GOOD! It is like a train wreck and I can NOT look away.
I hope to read Mary: An Awakening of Terror, by Nat Cassidy, and Ann Patchett's new novel out in August, Tom Lake (so far so good! I will tell more later). I am also going to read The September House, by Carissa Orlando.
I will finish listening to Mortal Follies, by Alexis Hall, and I also want to listen to Nineteen Claws and a Black Bird, by Agustina Bazterrica (the same author that wrote Tender is the Flesh). I also want to listen to The Seven Year Slip, by Ashley Poston.
Happy Reading and Stay Safe!
Brandy~
