Advocacy Budget Wins

While the NYS budget was almost a month overdue, patience and broad coalition advocacy brought some significant continued incremental funding to improve child care access, affordability and compensation for educators. Child care is an essential workforce support for working women who most often assume the majority of child-rearing care. Click the button below to view the advocacy budget wins that were achieved through our work with the Empire State Campaign for Child Care and support from other coalitions.

Important Paid Family Leave Update

The WNY Women's Foundation was a major advocate for the passage of NYS Paid Family Leave (PFL) in large part to provide this vital benefit to the lowest wage employees (significantly women). This chart demonstrates that this policy has been invaluable to providing essential leave to these lowest wage workers who likely otherwise would have none. We continue to recognize and advocate for increased compensation in this program which is based on NYS state-mandated disability insurance.

DEI in Early Child Care

Members of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and the Leadership Conference Education Fund collaboratively identified elements within early child care that are fundamental to protecting civil rights and advancing gender equity.
