The Messenger of St. Mark's | After Pentecost | June 15, 2023

For your thought:

These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment.

--Matthew 9:5-8

SAINT MARK'S MISSION & OUTREACH

Summer of Conversation, Conversation Cafés & New Logbook

Summer of Conversation Logbook Binder

Summer of Conversation will occur throughout the summer, but meeting at the church on Sundays is a ready-made meeting place option for most. With the formation classes on hiatus for the summer, we're opening up what we call, "Conversation Cafés" where people may meet for their Summer of Conversations in the Parish Hall after worship on Sunday mornings.

We now have a Summer of Conversation Logbook for all parishioners to log conversations. It resides on the table in the hallway toward between the narthex and the Parish Hall. Please update it regularly with whom you've met with and what date you met so that we can make sure everyone has a conversation (logging is not required, but we do have some cool stickers if you participate!). The logbook is sorted alphabetically by last name. If you're not in the book, there are blank sheets you may put your name on the inner flap of the binder cover.

St. Mark's Participates in the ABQ Pride Parade

On Saturday, June 11, several parishioners of St. Mark's joined other Diocese of the Rio Grande Albuquerque parishes on a trolley in the ABQ Pride Parade.

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God [Romans 8:14].

Summer Pool Party & BBQ Potluck

Join us for the St. Mark's Pool Party on Tuesday, June 27th, from 6-8:30 p.m. at Tennis Club of Albuquerque (directions here). We'll have to "share" the pool from 6-7, but we'll have it all to ourselves from 7-8:3pm. This will be a fun event with a potluck BBQ. Be thinking about what delicious side dish you'll want to share.

Topical Group Conversations

Summer Topical Educational Groups- Sign up!

The “backbone” of St. Mark’s annual Summer of Conversation is intentional, one-on-one conversations, AKA “relational meetings.” In addition to encouraging participation in “one-on-one” conversations throughout the summer, we welcome individuals to convene and facilitate group conversations around particular topics or areas of shared interest on Sundays after church in the library. Do you have a hobby to teach others? Do you have a specific topic of conversation you'd like to explore as a group? Do you have a passion for something that others might enjoy?  If you would be interested in convening and facilitating an informal conversation around a topic or area of interest to you, please talk to a member of the clergy and sign up on the clipboard in the narthex.

Summer Small Group: Sunday Evenings with “The Chosen”

“The Chosen” is a crowd-funded TV series on the life of Jesus and his followers. St. Mark’s will show the first four episodes followed by a short discussion on Sundays in June from 7-8:30 p.m. in the library. Bring a snack or dessert to share (optional). For information on the series, you may find the trailer on YouTube here. Please sign up at the welcome table in the entrance area or email Mother Sylvia via email here or Jennifer Lind (our Parish Administrator) via email here.
