Super Sporting, event results
Saturday May 7th - 120 Clays
This year we hosted a Super Sporting event. This shoot is similar to regular sporting clays except that Super Sporting has three or more clay machines with different presentations for the shooter. We had a good turnout for this event & it was a great day for all who participated!
Ally congratulates Stu Carter as the winner with a HOA 113/120 Excellent Shooting Stu!

Junior Learn - To - Shoot
Saturday June 14th
We had a great group of Juniors (both boys and girls) ranging from 12-17 years old. Many of the youth had never shot a gun before. Each Junior shot about 25 rounds and then enjoyed a BBQ hot dog lunch. The Juniors used a variety of shotguns from 410's, 28 gauge and 12 gauge.
Our thanks goes out to Don Terrio who did the safety talk and helped organize the shooting squads. We could not have done the Junior Learn to Shoot without our awesome instructors who volunteered their time!!
We would like to say a HUGE thanks to all of you.

FITASC - Introductory Event
|
|
On April 23 & 24th - Luther Cutts, Head Instructor (NSCA Level 3) and shotgun competitor hosted a Sold Out FITASC event at Station 6 on the Blue Course. There were 40 shooters who participated in this 2 day event.
FITASC Sporting is the European version of sporting clays. There are a few different formats, depending on the size of the event.
In Canada, we most frequently see the "old style" layouts, which consist of a parcour (layout) with three shooting positions and five or six target throwers. Five single targets and one or two pairs are shot from each shooting station, for a total of 25 targets per parcour. Ideally, there are six shooters on a squad, and each shooter will start one sequence per layout. The rotation can be a bit confusing at first, but it is actually fairly simple to grasp.

BOOBS, BUCKLES, AND BONES
Author: Denean Tomlin, Silver Willow, Instructor (NSCA Level 1), Competitor & Lady Gun (@Calgaryladyguns)
Growing up on a farm, I was exposed to guns, hunting and sport shooting at an early age. My first shooting experience was shooting bottle caps off of the bushes with a .22 rifle from a picnic table. My dad took my brother and me out for an afternoon of fun and to learn a little gun safety. A few years later I worked on Saturday mornings (because I was told to) at the local trap club, sitting in the bunker setting clay targets for the shooting league. It wasn’t until 30 years later, on a beautiful day in September when I was introduced to Sporting Clays. I was invited on a date to join an experienced shooter and give it a go. The reason I point out those two facts ladies, “on a date” and “experienced shooter”, is to illustrate that there were so many reasons to be nervous. So many things running through my mind…guns are fun but kinda scary, what if I make a fool of myself, what do I wear, I think I like this guy…yikes!
